Carried Away

Taken Series, #3

Summer Carter has dirty, not so little, secret: she wants to be dominated. She secretly meets with a male online only known to her as Master Z. Whipped, chained, flogged and loved by this one man. She knows who she wants but cannot commit to him because of past traumas that have affected her present choices. After a devastating event she flees to Hawaii to reflect on her life and try to heal her wounds. Xander is a Dom in need of a sub that he can share his life with but chain to a wall and pleasure her at his will. When he meets Summer through an online BDSM site he instantly falls in love and does everything that he can to win her trust. After months of being rebuffed he decides to end their relationship and move on. Little does he know that fate has something else in store for the both of them and they reconnect in Hawaii. When these two finally come face to face there is nothing stopping them from getting together, but will a single will meaning lie tear them apart just as quickly as they go together?

I wanted to hate this story but in all honesty I cannot. I also wanted to love this story but I cannot. This is my first book in the Taken series that I have read and I don’t really know if I want to read the previous stories in the series. I say this because I have vacillated between being annoyed with the main protagonists and finding them absolutely lovely and adorable. Any book that elicits any sort of feeling other than indifference is a success in my book and this book had me actually talking to the computer as I read the story (which is not as crazy as it sounds.) The couple is both likeable individually and together they one can clearly see why they would be attracted to one another but many of parts of the story felt contrived and a bit silly. You get so connected with the story that you feel their anticipation, their desperation, frustration, etc. I like that the author was able to convey these emotions through her characters but ultimately became frustrated because of the unnecessary drama that was created to cause this couple angst. We all know how these stories are supposed to end but getting there does not need to be this forced.

The sex scenes were plentiful and varied without being too detailed. I loved the solid friendship that the women had with one another and wished that had been brought more into the story. The writing was very entertaining. At times humorous and romantic with a tinge of BDSM to keep the novel in the adult realm you will be engaged from being to the end- whether you like it or not. Overall, this is a good book that you can quickly enjoy on a Saturday evening. Not my favorite by this author but certainly not a terrible story.

Book Blurb for Carried Away

What happens when you can’t face your perfect man?

Summer Carter faces that dilemma as her two best friends, Kathryn Maynard and Leya Greenwood, convince her to honor their pact and take her adventure. She flees to a tropical Hawaiian paradise when she can’t face her online Dom, Xander. The reality of the relationship and what she really wants in a man is too much for her to face.

Xander Houston never saw himself as a Dom who would need to look for a submissive on a personals site. But when he encounters a witty and intriguing profile for a submissive named End of Summer, he strikes up a fast friendship with her. Months later, she still refuses to meet him face to face, and he tells her he’s going to take a break.

Coincidentally, both end up in Hawaii on separate vacations. When Xander finds her and figures out who she is, he cooks up a plan to sweep her off her feet, not as a Dom, but just as Xander.

When Summer discovers the truth, will she run away from her secret Dom or will she allowed herself to get carried away?
