Scream for Me

We met Special Agent Daniel Vartanian in DIE FOR ME, as the brother of the deranged serial killer Simon Vartanian.  Believing that horrific chapter of his life closed, Daniel goes back to immerse himself in his work for the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, only to have his next case be a copy cat killer, recreating a murder committed thirteen years earlier in his home town of Dutton.  There he finds increasing evidence that his brother may have began things earlier that previously thought, only this time with help.
Alex Fallon's life was horribly changed thirteen years ago with the brutal rape and murder of her twin sister,  the suicide of her mother, and her own attempt to take her life.  Thankfully through the love of family, she was able to rise above her depression and the trauma.  Now she is returning to the town of Dutton, a place she never dreamed of returning to, to take custody of her unknown step-niece, and start looking for her missing step-sister, Bailey.
Why is her sister's death being mimicked after all these years?  What horrible truths are the pillars of the town's community hiding?  Can Daniel and Alex find Bailey in time?  How long before Alex ends up in the killer's sights?
WOW, Karen Rose has created a sickly twisted plot so engrossing that I found it very difficult to put this book down.  She blends and weaves the elements of suspense and terror so well that I had to remind myself that the killer was fictional, and  I am not in the story!  Her brilliant characterization of Daniel, Alex and the various other people kept the book realistic.   Though Daniel and Alex have both lived through terrible events in their lives, and now, while they are faced with even more terrifying events, they are still able to experience some good emotions and love.  They are a couple that are easy for a reader to understand and really like.
I'm glad that I had read DIE FOR ME right before I picked this up, because, even though SCREAM FOR ME is a stand-alone book, there were many references that were helpful by having read the previous.
I can't wait to pick up another Karen Rose book!

Book Blurb for Scream for Me

For her exciting debut in hardcover, New York Times bestselling author Karen Rose delivers a heart-stopping suspense novel that picks up where DIE FOR ME left off, with a detective determined to track down a brutal murderer.
Special Agent Daniel Vartanian has sworn to find the perpetrator of multiple killings that mimic a 13-year-old murder linked to a collection of photographs that belonged to his brother, Simon, the ruthless serial killer who met his demise in DIE FOR ME. Daniel is certain that someone even more depraved than his brother committed these crimes, and he's determined to bring the current murderer to justice and solve the mysterious crime from years ago.
With only a handful of images as a lead, Daniel's search will lead him back through the dark past of his own family, and into the realm of a mind more sinister than he could ever imagine. But his quest will also draw him to Alex Fallon, a beautiful nurse whose troubled past reflects his own. As Daniel becomes attached to Alex, he discovers that she is also the object of the obsessed murderer. Soon, he will not only be racing to discover the identity of this macabre criminal, but also to save the life of the woman he has begun to love.
