A criminal defense lawyer's career and family life is put to the test as a murder is committed and there is a possible link to his family including himself committing the murder. How could this be possible? With blackmail in the mix, Mick McFarland has to dig deep to rescue all that are close to him to get out of this thriller of a situation.
Mick McFarland is a highly successful criminal defense lawyer. He has taken up a case (pro bono) to help get Celine Bauer's son Justin out of prison for a crime he did not have anything to do with. However, with the death of a reporter that was supposed to be his client, Mick's career and even his personal life go into a tale-spin. Now with this situation on his hands, will Mice ever seek justice for Justin?
This is an intriguing story which took a different turn as Mick accepted a case to help his longtime friend get out of a murder accusation. I think that the story was based too much on Mick working the murder case and not changing back to the Justin Bauer's case to keep the storyline refreshing. Apart from this, the story is not loaded with characters…making it an easy read. Also, the author provides detailed background on each character allowing the reader to easily visualize them. Though this is a criminal defense story, do not get fooled as you might think that this is a court base storyline. The scene changes frequently which enhances the suspense and heart thumping. This comes together making you want to race to the finish to see what happens in the end!!!
Losing the trial of his life could mean losing everything.
When a young reporter is found dead and a prominent Philadelphia businessman is accused of her murder, Mick McFarland finds himself involved in the case of his life. The defendant, David Hanson, is Mick’s best friend, and the victim, a TV news reporter, had reached out to Mick for legal help only hours before her death.
Mick’s played both sides of Philadelphia’s courtrooms. As a top-shelf defense attorney and former prosecutor, he knows all the tricks of the trade. And he’ll need every one of them to win.
But as the trial progresses, he’s disturbed by developments that confirm his deepest fears. This trial, one that already hits too close to home, may jeopardize his firm, his family—everything. Now Mick’s only way out is to mastermind the most brilliant defense he’s ever spun, one that may cross every legal and moral boundary.
