Chemistry with a Dash of Scandal - The Melting Pot
Ok – I have a confession to make…I LOVE the television show – SCANDAL. Shonda Rhimes, show creator-head writer-producer, really knows how to bring the heat and the drama in tight episodes that piece together a grand seasonal arc. Her characters have layers that are slowly unfurled to show the deeper meanings behind each of their actions. As both a viewer and an author I admire how each episode pulls you forward to the edge of your seat via twists and turns that make you wish the next episode wasn’t a week away.
Needless to say, I was super excited when my friend, Gina Fluharty, recommended Xio Axelrod’s Falling Stars Series to me. (Their paths crossed at the National Conference for Romance Writers of America.)
Ms. Axelrod has produced a two book series that takes place on the set of a fictional SCANDAL type show named ‘We the People.’ The chemistry between African-American lead, Val Saunders, and her married co-star, Sam Newman, cannot be denied. But will their on-screen heat lead to off-screen shenanigans? Not if Val and Sam have their way…they are just friends…right?
Throw in Val’s spunky personal assistant, a jealous cast member, a jealous spouse, and a hard driving Shonda-Rhimes-esque writer/producer and you have a recipe for books that are hard-to-put-down fun reads.
The stories flow at a fast pace. Just go on ahead and buy the two e-book box set… you won’t be sorry.
Falling Stars (Falling Stars Series Book 1) by Xio Axelrod
What if you met the right person at the absolute wrong time?
Meet Val Saunders and Sam Newman, two Hollywood actors at opposite ends of their careers. Hers is skyrocketing while his, well, never really took off. Fate brings them together when they’re cast as lovers on a steamy new television series. The on-screen chemistry between them is off the charts and when it spills over into a real life attraction, they find themselves in a situation.
Sam is an honorable man. He has been faithful to a toxic, Hollywood marriage for nearly half his life. He’s never strayed and isn’t about to start now, despite the fact that he is falling head over heels for his co-star.
Val’s worked hard to get her career on the path to the A-list and the last thing she wants, or needs, is a scandal. If only her heart and her brain were working with the same script.
Romance is an ideal. This is a love story. Falling Stars explores the possibility of second chances and asks hard questions about duty, fidelity, life in the public eye, and the cost of being happy. This is the beginning of a sexy, sensual, and emotional roller-coaster ride that reminds us that love, while not often easy, is always worth it.

Starlight (Falling Stars Series Book 2) by Xio Axelrod
**UPDATED! Part two of a two-part story arc.**
Stars of the hit TV show, We the People, Sam Newman and Val Saunders have been burning up the small screen. Their chemistry is the topic of water cooler conversations everywhere. But their talent and success isn’t all that has people buzzing. Rumors of an off-screen love affair have begun to circulate.
But they’re just friends.
Friends that harbor feelings that neither are ready to acknowledge? Perhaps.
The lines between fantasy and reality have blurred…a bit…but no lines have been crossed. Not really. So let the rumors fly. Accusations are easy enough to deny, since they’re only friends.

I have a confession to make. I’m a time traveler. I love flinging myself into the future, then hurtling fast to an alternative past. In my usual time-space-dimension, I’m a mechanical engineer and business woman. So, I have a natural penchant for hover cars and steam or aether powered engines. Though I was born in the wrong era, I’m actually a child of the sixties – 1860, 1960, 2060.
My stories feature strong women, who know how to wield their minds like weapons. Their men are smart and often controlling….but, rest assured, my female leads give them a run for their money. They strive to follow their hearts and dreams for the betterment of themselves and their loved ones. Like my life, all of my stories feature a diverse cast of characters.
With my business partner, Therese Patrick, I work to demystify marketing principles for my author friends. Our first book, Author Marketing 101 Guide & Journal, was published by Gazebo Gardens Publishing and released in October 2013.
Steampunk, futurist, blerd, artist, author, and marketing maven…a real creative force of nature – that’s me in a nutshell.
