Could you please start by telling us a little about yourself?
Born in Maine, I live in Florida with my soul mate and two entertaining cats in a peaceful little neighborhood. That's code for retirement community :) Contemporary romance is what I focus on when I'm writing and I just recently crossed over to erotic romance.
What do you do on a typical writing day?
I get comfy by staying in my jammies, have plenty of my favorite decaf coffee on hand, Barnies Santa's White Christmas, sit back in my old reliable recliner with my lap top on my lap. I don't usually like noise in the background unless it's the wind chimes blowing on my porch.
When you have writer's block how do you break free?
I have several projects going on at the same time and move on to something else. If it's a total block I'll close up shop and walk away because there's nothing more frustrating than sitting and staring at a blank computer screen.
Can you please give us a sneak peek at any of your upcoming books?
"WICKED DESIRE" will be released in print and ebook in October by Whiskey Creek Press Torrid. It's my second erotic romance. Folks can read a short blurb and excerpt on my website at www.toryrichards.com
Please tell us what you have planned next?
Right now I've been focusing on revising "THE COWBOY WAY", which I hope to submit to a publisher soon. It, too, is an erotic romance, with a sexy cowboy as the hero. I hear they're popular :).
In 5 years, where do you see yourself? -In general and in you're writing career
Closer to retiring and closer to the grave! LOL I have big plans when I retire. I'll still be young enough to enjoy traveling, my grandchildren, and writing. I'll probably write until the end, it's in my blood. I started out late in life so I'll never be one of those authors who can retire and make a living off my books.
Is there a genre of book you would like to write but haven't yet?
Yes, some day I'd like to try my hand at a vampire romance, or a shape shifter. I just recently read my first one and really enjoyed it. It's different, and lets you be really creative with your plot.
Do deadlines help or hinder your muse?
Well, deadlines with regard to editing make me a little nervous. Especially if I don't hear from my editor until a month before the book is due for release, then I feel a little rushed. So I guess you'd say it hinders :).
When did you first decide to submit your work? Please, tell us what or who encouraged you to take this big step.
Though I've been writing all my life, I didn't submit until a few short years ago. My daughter and niece encouraged me to give it a try so I figured, what did I have to lose? The first publisher I submitted to was Whiskey Creek Press and two months later I received a contract offer!
What was your first published work and when was it published?
Under the name Tory Richards? LOL "IT'S ALL IN THE JEANS", published February 2008 by Whiskey Creek Press Torrid. My first erotic romance, Logan and Libby's story. Readers can read a steamy excerpt on my website. It's a hot romance and I just received a rave review from Fallen Angels Reviews.
What would be the best way for readers contact you? Do you have a website? Email address? MySpace site? Blog? Message Board? Group?
I have several websites and blogs that are all linked from my Tory Richards website, listed below. www.toryrichards.com How can readers find out more about you and your books?
If they're over 18 they can visit Whiskey Creek Press Torrid at www.whiskeycreekpresstorrid.com, or my website.
Thank you for this opportunity!
