Current Release: Pool of Crimson

Describe your current release in two sentences?

Dahlia Sabin has been killing vampires most of her life, that is until, she meets one in particular that needs her help. As she falls deeper into Columbus' seedier side, her morals are challenged and her lust ignited in her pursuit to put down a blood thirst demon bent on consuming the world and the vampire master who summoned it.

Please describe your writing environment.

I am a compulsive organizer. My desk is always clean, my research always filed and lists cover the walls in neat outlines. It may actually look like no one is actually working at all but trust me, there is always something going on beneath the surface.

What are you working on?

Pool of Crimson is book one of a series. I'm currently working on books 5 and 6 in the series. I'm also working on a whole new paranormal romance series set in the distant future.

What do you feel blessed with?

I am blessed that I love what I do both for my day job and writing. I'm blessed that I am married to a wonderful man who loves and will tell me the truth, especially in my writing. When I'm stretching to make something work, he tells me; when something sounds lame, he tells me; and when it's bad, yep - he tells me that too. I am also blessed that I have the flexibility to tell the story that I want. That's important to me.

What was your childhood ambition?

This is going to sound like I'm crazy. LOL! When I was 8, I wanted to be an astronaut. When I was 13, I wanted to be an Opera singer. By the time I was 18, I wanted to be an famous international lawyer. I discovered that I'm a much better writer than I would be an astronaut - I'm not very interested in science and that's kind of a necessity. I don't have the range to actually be an opera singer but I think I would have made a good lawyer, that just didn't pan out. I think I like writing better anyway. I've always told stories to my friends and lived in my own head so this is better.

What is your favorite TV show?

I love Game of Thrones. I might even be a little obsessed with it. It is incredibly well written, well acted and keeps me on the edge of my seat. Plus, they kill main characters all the time. That keeps me on my toes.

What are your plans for the summer? Any books you are looking forward to?

I am swamped this summer. I have manuscripts to finish and submit and more to work on. However, I am very excited about Kelly Armstrong's final installment "Thirteen".

How was your road to publication?

My road to publication was long, with a lot of rejection letters and tears but that's the nature of the business. You have to have a tough skin to write and seek publication. I went through so many rewrites from critiques, submission suggestions, and reviews that I lost the point of the story. At some point, I ended up starting again and telling the story that made sense to me. After that, it was much easier.

If you could time travel, where would you travel to and why?

I love Europe. I've been to London, Barcelona, and Sarajevo. I want to take a "Grand Tour", seeing all the sights from Greece to Finland and all stops in between. I love to experience new things, new places and new foods.

If you could live in a world created by an author, which book / world would you jump into?

I think I would like to experience the world of Kate Daniels by Ilona Andrews. She has created something special with a vision so vivid and not necessarily pretty. That appeals to me. I like that she was able to create something that wasn't attractive on the surface but dig deep to show you the truth of a situation and people.

Thanks to all my readers! I appreciate your support and I hope you enjoy Pool of Crimson. See what happens next in book two of the Blushing Death Series: Midnight Ash, available in November 2012 from Soul Mate Publishing.
