Current Release: The Outcast Chronicles

This is a family-saga set in a fantasy world. Linked by blood, love and vows the characters struggle with misplaced loyalties, and over-riding ambition. Some make desperate alliances only to suffer betrayal, and some discover great personal strength.

Please describe your writing environment.

Between work (I teach first year UNI students), 6 kids (aged 17 - 27) and writing, I hardly have time to catch my breath.

What are you working on?

Staying fit while writing 8-12 hours a day.

I'll be jumping into the next King Rolen's Kin trilogy soon.

What do you feel blessed with?

That I've lived long enough to know how lucky I am.

If you had to choose one person to have dinner with, who would it be? And why?

I would have dinner with my long suffering husband. He's done a beautiful trailer for my new trilogy and I hardly ever see him. We wave at each other in passing. So I'm feeling guilty.

If I could have dinner with a literary person, it would be Saki, the short story satirist. I think we'd get on really well. I love his dark sense of humour.

What is your favorite TV show?

I watch heaps of TV series. I like to series binge - get the whole season and watch it over a weekend so I can see how the character arcs develop. I teach film, so I appreciate a good TV series from the writing, to the world building, to the art direction and shot selection.

I've been watching:

Game of Thrones
The Wire
True Blood
Being Human
Breaking Bad

And I've probably overlooked some.

What career fields have you worked in?

Way back when there were bromide machines and 'cut and paste' meant 'cut and paste', I worked in Indie Publishing, had a secondhand books shop and ran a graphic art studio. Over the years I've done volunteer work on the management committees of state and national arts organisations and more recently I've been teaching first year university.

But the hardest job of all was mother to six children, no holiday pay, no breaks and no sick pay. (Most fun, too).

How do you mesh your personal and professional life?

I don't have a personal life. LOL

I work, I write and I look after my family.

If it weren't for the internet I'd never get out of the house!

Do you have a favorite time of the day? If so when and why

Sunset and sunrise. I love the way the clouds change colour.

What is the one thing you do not want to live without?

Can I have two? My family and my writing.

And one more, my mind. I find the world a fascinating place.

I'd like to say thank you to all those people who have contacted me to say how much they enjoyed King Rolen's Kin.

A couple of people have said that they or their partner have dyslexia and despite this they powered through the books. That gives me a real buzz. So glad the books swept them away!
