Current Release: A Tale of Two Djinns
Describe your current release in two sentences?
A TALE OF TWO DJINNS is a sexy paranormal Romeo & Juliet story with genies, feminists, kickass action & adult fun. Fifty percent of all proceeds are pledged to UNICEF.
Please describe your writing environment.
I have an upstairs office -- a bit messy-- with bookshelves behind me so I have reading material on hand, a large window that overlooks the yard & I can watch the squirrels, dogs and wild turkeys...erm, when I'm not writing. My desk is a salvaged antique painted a crisp green and I have a potted plant I'm desperately trying to keep alive.
What are you working on?
I'm working on my third djinn story :) Actually, I have three different stories started, and now I have to decide which one I'll complete first!
What do you feel blessed with?
My parents and their determination to educate me. It's thanks to my education that I discovered my love of books (first as a reader, then as a writer & reader), pursued an adventurous career as a journalist, and became a published author. Books have been my constant companions and comfort throughout my life. So, it saddens me to know there are many people in the world who will never enjoy a book. According to UNICEF, 67 million children are currently not enrolled in school. So my donating to UNICEF is a way to give thanks for my blessings.
What was your childhood ambition?
I have always wanted to be a writer...my first poem was published in school year book when I was in the third grade and I just loved seeing my work in print :)
If you had to choose one person to have dinner with, who would it be? And why?
Antonio Banderas....he is HAWT and I could listen to him talk all night long :)
What is your favorite TV show?
Castle! *I am such a fan girl*
What career fields have you worked in?
Journalism (both newspaper and television), culinary instructor, nutrition educator, and tutor. By the way, I wear two hats now: author and food columnist...yes, I do love my work! :)
What is the one thing you do not want to live without?
What has been the best way for you to engage readers?
I love twitter -- so many wonderful people to meet & so many great conversations to participate in -- it's like an awesome party. :) Facebook is a close second. Face to face is fun, but I usually end up talking about food more than anything else :)
What is the best thing about being an author?
Writing the stories of my heart, sending them out into the world and touching readers' hearts. I love hearing from readers.
I'd like to thank my readers and prospective readers for their support. May a good book always be near at hand.
