Current Release: Darkest Sin

Describe your current release in two sentences?

Xan is running from her past while Brody can't remember his. When Brody must protect Xan from her ex, can he win her heart in the process?

Please describe your writing environment.

My writing environment is wherever I make it. I do have a nice big desk but I usually find myself with my laptop, sitting on the couch or outside--but not when it's this hot outside! I also write a lot at night, so it's pretty common for me to be sitting in bed with a pillow in my lap as my makeshift desk. What's great is I can write anywhere, anytime the mood strikes.

What are you working on?

Right now I'm drafting the third book in my Surrounded by Woods series, titled Surrounded by Temptation. I've been getting lots of emails from fans asking when this book will be released since Surrounded by Pleasure ended on a cliffhanger (I can be so mean, LOL).

What do you feel blessed with?

My family and friends. No matter what I'm going through in life, I have the best support group. Being a writer is difficult. Most do not make enough money to support themselves and a family, so for many, writing takes place after a day job or while taking care of the kids. I think those who write do it because they love it and success is dependent on long hours of writing and marketing. So I'm very happy to have been blessed with the most amazing friends and family that not only understand my need to write, but also encourage it.

What was your childhood ambition?

I've always wanted to be a writer. But living in Arkansas, I never really thought it was possible growing up. I wrote poems, lyrics, and short stories, but I also studied and considered career goals. I went from wanting to be an accountant (I'm actually only a few classes shy of finishing my masters degree and being eligible to take the CPA exam in my state) to a lawyer (I actually took the LSAT and failed miserably). But throughout my college education and career, writing has always played a part.

What is your favorite TV show?

True Blood! There's nothing hotter than sexy vampires. Plus the author of the Sookie Stackhouse series, Charlaine Harris, lives in Arkansas, so I like supporting my fellow southern author.

What career fields have you worked in?

I've worked mainly in information technology. I met Deliah Devlin at an RT Book Review sit-down discussion with founder Kathryn Falk (which was awesome!), and I'd learned that she (Deliah) was in IT before she was able to quit and write full time. Gives me hope. :)

What are your plans for the summer? Any books you are looking forward to?

I absolutely love to read, so I read all the time. I want to read Maya Banks' latest release and I have several in my Goodreads TBR list. I just finished editing the second book in my young adult series, Season's Change, before I started working on Surrounded by Temptation. As soon as I finish this project, I'll be reading again--unless I just can't wait, which is probably what will happen.

How was your road to publication?

Long. I tried the traditional route of querying agents first with the first book in my young adult series, Season's Change: Summer. I got some nice rejection letters and several form rejection letters. During this time, I starting writing erotica and decided I'd just submit directly to publishers. I'd finished two books fairly quickly and both got accepted from first round of submissions. Going directly to the publisher proved much easier for me to break into the industry.

If you could time travel, where would you travel to and why?

I'd travel to England in the 1100s. I'm a direct descendent of British royalty, so I think it'd be cool to meet a many-times-great grandfather who was king of a nation.

If you could live in a world created by an author, which book / world would you jump into?

I would jump into Megan Hart's Order of Solace world. Try my "hand" at being a Handmaiden. But it'd be my luck I'd get some horrible name like "Ornery" instead of something graceful like "Eloquence." But I'd live up to whatever name given to me. Hmm... maybe "Orney" wouldn't be so bad afterall. ;)

Thank y'all for taking the time to read my ramblings. I'd love for you to check out my website. And if you've read my books, I'd love to hear from you!
