Current Release: Goddess Bared

Describe your current release in two sentences?

Goddess Bared is the fifth book in the bestselling Goddess Series, which follows Legacy on her path to ascension, having been created in the likeness of an original Greek goddess. In this installment Legacy learns the true meaning behind the consequences of her actions and must find the strength to pick up the pieces of her life.

What have you had to give up to pursue your writing career?

I've been fortunate to have both a helpful and understanding family, so I haven't really had to give up anything... other than sleep.LOL! If you really want to be a writer you have to make time to do it. But I will say that it's hard to even take a vacation and not be "working" on some level. It's extremely easy for me to get caught up in story ideas and plotting, even when I've been forbidden to do any work. So in that respect, I guess I've given up "me" time.

What are you working on?

I am finalizing the sixth--and last--book in the Goddess Series, tentatively titled GODDESS BOUND. It's due back to my editor in a week, so I'm frantically trying to get it finished! Allllllmoooost there.

What is your ultimate writing goal?

The first book in the Goddess Series reached number one in the Teen Romance category on Amazon and actually broke into the top 10 overall list at number 7. I was blown away by that. I love to write and will always be writing regardless of any industry accepted achievements, but with that being said, I'd love to hit the New York Times Bestseller List. That would be a dream come true for me.

Do you have a comfort food? What is it?

I live in the south. Everything is comfort food down here, so it's hard to pick just one. But I am a big chocolate fan. If I need a pick-me-up yummy chocolate goodness does the trick.

Where is your favorite place to write?

On the couch. It's sad, really. I have a nice desk in my office with notes posted on my board, a chair that took me a while to pick out, and a wireless keyboard and mouse that I can connect to my laptop...but I'm usually snuggled on the couch when I write.

What are your summer plans? Any books you are looking forward to?

The beginning of my summer is swamped. I have two more books coming out (one under this pen name and one from Ellora's Cave under my other pen name). I'm speaking at the Arkansas Writer's Conference and doing a seminar at RomCon... and that's all before July! I'm behind on reading J.R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series, so I'd hope to catch up on those this summer because I am itching to read the latest one! I should get in a few of them, at least. Then it'll be back to writing.

How was your road to publication?

For a long time, I tried submitted directly to agents. I got lots of rejections, but I actually feel pretty good about that now because many of them were requests for fulls and even some had very nice comments with opportunities to resubmit. I hadn't thought about subbing directly to an editor until I found an open call from Spice Briefs. I decided to write a story I'd been brainstorming on, but it was too long to submit. I tucked it away and considered it just practice experience. A couple of months later, I decided to pull it out and polish it. I subbed it to three different publishers. I got notification from one that it had passed the initial review and a couple of weeks after that, I got acceptances from BOTH of the other two publishers. I was completely shocked that I got to choose which one I wanted to go with. During that time, I had written another book and had subbed it to Ellora's Cave. They accepted my submission a week after I got acceptances from the others. It was after they accepted my work that I felt like I could really jump in and do this for a living. It was a very exciting week for me.

If you could live in a world created by an author, which book / world would you jump into?

Laurann Dohner's New Species! I downloaded and read her latest release, MOON, the day it came out! The New Species are genetically altered humans, mixed with specific animal DNA who've been locked up and tested on for years. The first book starts out with their rescue and how they're adapting to life now that they are free. The guys in this series are dominate and HOT.

What is your favorite App and why does it take first place?

Facebook. Duh. Does it really need any explanation? I also love Tweetbot. I can keep up with social media stuff with both of those. Gotta love technology!

I want to thank everybody who's tried my Goddess Series books! I get emails everyday from new fans, and it never ceases to amaze me. I've been writing for years with various publishers, but I was very nervous about branching out and starting over in a new genre. With each passing day, I am more and more certain I made the right decision.
