Current Release: Life on the Edge

Describe your current release in two sentences?

Life on the Edge is a story of love and perseverance. It's about finding love in an unexpected place and following what the heart says is true, no matter the risks involved.

What is the one thing you do not want to live without?

My Blackberry! I have good friends scattered around the country, and we keep in touch a lot through texting, so I'd be lost without my phone. I also need it to constantly keep up with social media and all the promotional aspects of being an author.

If you could time travel, where would you travel to and why?

I would travel to the late 1940's because I think it was such a fascinating time in our history after the end of WWII, and I love the style of the fashion, how glamorous it looked. I think it would be so neat to see what my town looked like back then.

Please describe your writing environment.

I write in a number of different places - at my desk in my home office, in my big comfy chair in my living room, and sometimes in my bed late at night with only the light from my laptop. It just depends when and where the ideas start flowing!

What is your favorite TV show?

My favorite TV show past or present is Friday Night Lights. The characters were so real and everything about the show - the way it was shot, the emotions it portrayed - were so authentic. I also loved so many of the actors and actresses on the show - Kyle Chandler, Connie Britton, Zach Gilford, to name a few. They owned their characters.

What are you working on?

I'm currently working on the sequel to LIFE ON THE EDGE. It continues the story of Emily and Sergei and focuses on some unforeseen issues they face when they visit Sergei's home country of Russia. I can't say any more without spoiling the first book!

What career fields have you worked in?

I've worked in tax accounting since I graduated from college, first for one of the Big 4 accounting firms and now for a large distribution company. I work with some great people at my current job. They've been so supportive of my writing career!

Where do you want to travel?

Even though I've been there a couple of times, I'd love to travel to Cape Cod again because it's so beautiful and peaceful. Just being on the island inspires me. It's why my first book is set there!

How was your road to publication? Have you every had to deal with rejection letters?

I was very fortunate that my manuscript was accepted by the first and only publisher to which I submitted. A friend told me about Astraea Press, and the more I read about them, the more I knew my book would be a great fit. I spent about nine months rewriting the first draft of my manuscript, and once I submitted to Astraea, I received a contract in less than a month. It was a day I'll never forget!

What has been the best way for you to engage readers? Face to Face / Chatting Online / Twitter / Facebook / Blogging

I've been able to connect with readers through Facebook, Goodreads, and blogging, and it's been such a fun experience. I would love to meet more readers and chat, whether online or face to face! Contact me anytime!

What is the best thing about being an author?

I think the best thing about being an author is being able to create stories that have an emotional impact on readers. When someone tells me they laughed or cried or screamed at my characters while reading my work, that makes me so happy! It means the reader is truly invested in my story and is connecting with the emotions I poured into it.

Thank you so much for letting me share more about my work! I would love to hear from all readers, even if you just stop by one of my sites and say hello. Meeting new people has been one of the best parts of venturing into the writing world!
