Current Release: Kindred of the Fallen

Describe your current release in two sentences?

Kindred of the Fallen is a paranormal romance about literal soul mates who trigger a civil war over salvation. Here's the warning on Samhain's site: contains a headstrong, soul-reading tattoo artist, a sexy alpha hero who knows how to get what he wants, adrenaline-packed action, and explosive sex that actually shatters bulletproof glass.

What have you had to give up to pursue your writing career?

Time with family. I was working full-time for the government, plus I had a U.S Air Force officer commitment to the reserves when I first started writing. My husband and I decided something had to give, especially if we wanted to have kids. So we agreed that I would give up the government job and write full-time. I'm now a mom and juggling everything isn't easy, but my son is priority number one.

What are you working on?

I just completed the edits to book two of the Kindred Chronicles, Protector of the Flame. It is scheduled to release October 22, 2013. Now, I'm writing book 3, Curse of the Blessed. My goal is to have it finished and submitted to my editor a month before my second child is due later this year.

What is your ultimate writing goal?

To have two books hit the New York Times bestseller list.

Do you have a comfort food? What is it?

This is a tough question right now because I'm pregnant. My comfort food changes daily, Lol. Today it's truffle mac and cheese.

Where is your favorite place to write?

On a comfy sofa with an ocean view.

What career fields have you worked in?

The Intelligence field for both the U.S. Army as an enlisted solider and for the Air Force as an officer. I also managed reserve forces for an intelligence unit for a Joint Command as a civilian.

What are your summer plans? Any books you are looking forward to?

I'm trying to squeeze in a family reunion. I'll be five months pregnant and I have to cart my one-year-old by myself across several states since my husband is in Afghanistan. It's a trip I dread and look forward to at the same time.

How was your road to publication?

My agent found me through a contest. It was really pure luck since she didn't even judge my writing. She simply loved my name, which is real, and the title of my book. After reading the story, she signed me.

If you could time travel, where would you travel to and why?

There are a few mistakes in my past I'd love to undo, but they've made me the person I am today. So, I'd like to go about 25 years into the future to see how my family is doing and if there are any major mistakes or problems I could prevent. Hopefully without completely mucking everything up, Lol. Also, it wouldn't hurt to snag a copy of one of my bestsellers to make life a little easier.

Thank you to everyone at NOR and to readers. From July-August, I'm giving away 10 e-copies of Kindred of the Fallen each month to the first readers who request one. All I ask is for an honest review on Goodreads and/or Amazon. Simply send an email to asking for a copy. Book 2, Protector of the Flame, comes out October 22, 2013.
