Current Release: Northanger Abbey
Describe your current release in two sentences?
Jane Austen gave us Catherine Moreland and Henry Tilney. I gave them spice behind the bedroom door.
Please describe your writing environment.
Lots of book shelves at my computer station and places for my three cats to sit and watch me. Sunlight pouring in from picture windows and French doors. What could be better!
What are you working on?
Four stories currently in development: Touch Me, Book 5, The hoe nix Agency; Nails, Book 3, Erector Set; Lock and Load, Book 2, Attack Force, and outlining the next 4 novellas in the Rawhide series. Oh, and, um the sequel to Joy Ride. Later this year I will be plotting the next books in the Cats Eye and Sentinels series.
What do you feel blessed with?
My friends, my publishers, my editors and my readers. I love them all. And a family who supports absolutely everything I do---even getting tattoos. Where would I be without any of them?
What was your childhood ambition?
First I wanted to be a Hollywood star (LOL! who didn't?). Then I wanted to write the iconic love story. I somehow missed the Barbara Cartland craze but my idols were Phyllis Whitney and Victoria Holt. I like to think that Victoria influenced the scenes I added to Northanger Abbey.
What is your favorite TV show?
The Good Wife
What career fields have you worked in?
Wow! Okay, insurance, public television, retail, dental assistant, public relations, the music industry and higher education as a fund raiser and PR person.
What are your plans for the summer? Any books you are looking forward to?
Oh, too many to name! I have my ereader loaded with my favorites and my treat when I make my word count each day is to get kin bed with my cats and read until I fall asleep. I am a hungry reader-I swallow books whole. God bless ereaders because I can carry 800 books in my purse.
How was your road to publication?
Interesting. After almost two years of banging my head against publishers' doors I was published by an publisher who has since gone out of business. But my good luck genie must have been looking out for me because I was lucky enough to be contracted quickly by three publishers, including Total-E-Bound. From there it's been a lot of grit and hard work but it has so been worth it. Each year just gets better. But don't let anyone tell you it isn't hard work to get there and keep your place.
If you could time travel, where would you travel to and why?
I think I'd travel to the future and the world J.D. Robb created for Eve Dallas. Lots of neat electronics, including a car that has autopilot and and Auto Chef that cooks your meals for you.
If you could live in a world created by an author, which book / world would you jump into?
I'd have to choose two, and they are totally opposite: Robyn Carr's Virgin River and Joey Hill's Knights of the Boardroom.
I really want to tell all my readers how very much I love them. Some of them have been with me from the very first book. I love the emails they send and the comments they leave. They are just the best. My next books out are Hammered from Ellora's Cave and Top or Bottom from Total-E-Bound.
