Current Release: Keeper Of My Heart
Describe your current release in two sentences?
Keeper Of My Heart is about a young woman who must face the death of a dream of owning the lighthouse compound in Paige Point, Maryland and providing a home for her and her grandfather when she is outbid at the town hall meeting by the new stranger in town.
Do you have a favorite time of the day? If so when and why
I love the early mornings when everything is still quiet, right before the sun comes up. I love sitting on my wicker chair with a cup of hot coffee and watching the sun come up over my barn.
What is the one thing you do not want to live without?
I can't believe I'm saying this but it would have to be my cell phone, specifically the text messaging feature! It's how I communicate with my college age son!
Please describe your writing environment.
I live on a farm in Tennessee and it's a perfect place for anyone who's creative, including writers. Living on a farm dictates its own unique schedule, so I have to be pretty flexible. I have two or three places in my home where I love to write. One is in my little upstairs studio. There’s a balcony off that room that overlooks our farm. That’s where I write when the weather’s nice. When its cold I sit by my fire with my feet propped up on the hearth, my MacBook Pro in my lap.
What is your favorite TV show?
Moonlight. It's a paranormal romance starring Alex O'Laughlin and Sophia Myles. Even though it only lasted one season, it is one of the most romantic shows I've ever seen. My husband and I have watched that one season five or six times in the past year! I know, get a life, right? Lol!
What are you working on?
I’m working on a story about a young woman who is struggling to keep her Bed and Breakfast afloat in the face of fierce competition from her neighbor who is the owner of a successful hunting lodge and the man she believes responsible for her father’s demise. It takes place in west Texas and it’s my first cowboy romance. I’m having a ton of fun writing it!
What career fields have you worked in?
Mainly the arts. I was a professional model/actress for thirteen years and also taught tap and ballet for several years. I'm also published in the non-fiction Christian market.
Where do you want to travel?
I would adore eating my way through Italy, with several stops at art galleries and ancient sites, of course! :)
How was your road to publication? Have you every had to deal with rejection letters?
I certainly had my own share of rejection letters! Thankfully, because of good writing workshops, my wonderful critique partners, and daily advice and encouragement from the RWA and Music City Romance Writers yahoo groups, I got through the disappointment of each rejection, kept believing in myself and just kept plugging away toward being the best writer I could be.
What is the best thing about being an author?
Spending hours in a world of my own making! It's such a joyful experience for me.
What do you feel blessed with?
I feel blessed to have the support and encouragement of my terrific son and wonderful husband. I'm blessed to live on a beautiful farm surrounded by my gardens and a menagere' of animals including my two English Setters.
I enjoyed our visit, today!
