Current Release: Careless
Describe your current release in two sentences?
Careless is the eighth and final book in the Nashville Nights series. Tori Warner is a fiesty country singer who is being stalked by a crazed fan, and Mike Cooper is the sexy detective who is trying to protect her. Unfortunately, a one-night stand is making it difficult for Mike to maintain his professional ethics.
Please describe your writing environment.
I take my laptop anywhere and everywhere with me. I can curl up on the sitting room in my bedroom, on the couch at my cottage, the library, coffee shop, waiting rooms, at the beach... in other words, I can write anywhere.
What are you working on?
The Nashville Nights series evolved into a spin-off series, Nashville Nights, the Next Generation. I just finished the second book in that series, Trade Off, and announced a Nashville Nights holiday novella titled, Holiday Homecoming. I will be starting that one next.
What do you feel blessed with?
I feel blessed to be married to my soul mate. We've been together sixteen years and have a son, who is the center of our world!
What was your childhood ambition?
I've always loved writing. I was the student editor of the school newspaper and yearbook when I was ten. I'll never forget the book that got me hooked on reading. It was The Dairy of Anne Frank, and I was in the fifth grade.
What is your favorite TV show?
I love the X-Factor, The Voice, and American Idol.
What career fields have you worked in?
I was a nutritionst for more than a decade before I began writing full-time.
What are your plans for the next year? Any books you are looking forward to?
I am in love with the Nashville Nights characters, and I just wasn't ready to let them go. The Next Generation characters will follow the children of the characters from the original series as they search for their soul mates. There will be some great interaction between the parents and children in these books, and I cannot wait for that!
How was your road to publication?
I never considered looking for a traditional publisher. As a nutritionist, I owned my own business before I started writing full-time, so I wasn't afraid to manage the business aspect of managing my own career. For me, self publishing was the only option I wanted to consider. Did I mention I'm a bit of a control freak?
If you could time travel, where would you travel to and why?
I love visiting museums and heritage centers. I'm fascinated with the turn of the century, and the way people lived during those times, so I'd have to say I'd travel back in time... about 112 years.
If you could live in a world created by an author, which book / world would you jump into?
I am loving Bella Andre's Sullivans series. I think I'd like to be one of their siblings. Or perhaps a love interest of one of the sexy Sullivan brothers...
If not for my readers, I wouldn't even have thought of writing the Nashville Nights, Next Generation series. They inspired me when they told me they weren't ready for this series to end, and they made me realize I wasn't either. Every day, my readers thank me for doing what I do, but I cannot thank them enough for their support because without them, I wouldn't be able to wake up and do what I love every day. I love to connect with my fans on Facebook: www.facebook.com/cheryldouglasbooks. That interaction never ceases to make me smile.
