Current Release: Anything But Love

Describe your current release in two sentences?

A small-town playboy and a worldly socialite struggle to mend friendships and their own fragile relationship amid a media frenzy that sets the town of Sugar Creek on its heels and the Cupcake Lovers on the path to culinary glory. Can true love blossom between two impassioned but proud souls or will it wither in the chaos of distrust and fame?

What are you working on?

I'm presently writing the fourth novel Cupcake Lovers series--IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE. I'm head over heels for Sugar Creek, Vermont and for the many colorful and complicated people--um, characters--that populate that fictional town. Since recurring characters, relationships, and scenarios evolve throughout the series, it's a bit like writing a soap opera. A delicious challenge with a spicy kick!

Is there an author or book that has greatly influenced your writing?

I'm inspired by a good many author and books. Too many to name. However I can say that in my early years as a writer, I was greatly influenced by Johanna Lindsey, Julie Garwood, and Susan Elizabeth Phillips. Their vibrant storytelling and unique voices charm me to this day.

As a reader: Do you gravitate toward buying eBook or Print?

There's something magical and nostalgic about print books. I will always love them, but I confess my reading format of first choice these days is digital. That said, the format is secondary to the storytelling. As long as I'm carried away by the words and the wonder, I'm happy.

Who is your coolest character?

What a tough question! I suppose that depends on my mood. Rather than pick the coolest character in this book alone, I'll pick a favorite in the overall series. Daisy Monroe. The matriarch of the Monroe family. Eccentric, troubled, caring, and hell on wheels at the spry age of seventy five. Uber cool.

When I created the Cupcake Lovers and their unique world I had hoped to entice readers into my world and to hook them for the ongoing ride. I can't tell you what a rush it is when folks contact me expressing interest in, or concern for, particular characters in the series and an intense need (hurry up and write it now!) for the next book in the series. All I can say is: I'm living my dream.
