Caressed by Moonlight | Release Date: November 30th 2010

Dorian Vlakhos is no ordinary aristocrat. He is a vampire king, who will do anything to save his clan from complete annihilation, before an ancient curse can claim his immortal life.

Penniless and orphaned, Victoria Kingston has nothing to bring to a marriage, yet she must shackle an unsuspecting gentleman into marriage by the end of the month or forfeit her rights as guardian of her younger sister. With the help of her dearest friend, Victoria begins her hunt, and vows to stay far away from the dark, mysterious, Prince Vlakhos.

After meeting the beautifully innocent Miss Kingston, Dorian had to have her. He would do absolutely anything to make Victoria his. One sweet stolen kiss would bring them together while a force, more powerful than any vampire, would bind them for all eternity, but treachery, war, and death rule Dorian's dark world and Victoria would be fortunate to survive.

Please describe your writing environment.

Well, I don't have one set writing environment. I write whenever I can and no matter where I'm at. However, there are some days when I do nothing but write. I make some tea or coffee, grab my laptop and a blanket, and settle down on my bed with my little cocker spaniel curled up at my feet. She keeps my toes warm.

What main genre do you write in?

Paranormal / Urban Fantasy

Please tell us your latest news!

Caressed by Moonlight is my debut novel and the first installment of the Rulers of Darkness series. Caressed by Night, the second book in the series, is currently being edited and the release date is to be announced.

If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?

No, I wouldn't change anything. I think my characters are strong and their story is romantic. This novel was perfect for my debut and I feel that it has done a great job introducing the series, Rulers of Darkness, to readers.

Do you see writing as a career?

I would love for writing to be my career. However, I would continue to go to school. It has always been a goal of mine to complete my masters. I am almost finished with my B.A. now.

Do you recall how your interest in writing originated?

My interest in writing originated in middle school. A friend of mine suggested I read a book that she had checked out from the school library, Vivian Vande Velde's Companions of the Night. I fell hopelessly in love with the vampire genre after that. I read every paranormal romance I could get my hands on and before I knew it, I was writing. I wrote the first draft of Caressed by Moonlight in 8th grade. A few years ago I found the binder that I had kept it in. I read through it, and decided to give it a second chance. I did a little rewriting, polishing, and editing and here it is today, published.

Do you have any advice for other writers?

Just stick with it. Keep writing. With every book you write your skill improves and your knowledge grows. Have faith in your work and believe in yourself.

Do you write full time? What did you do before you became a writer? Or Still do?

I wish I could write full time, its a dream of mine. For now, I am full time university student, working on my B.A. in history and I work part time. Basically, I have to find time to write and I do take advantage of any spare time I have.

What is your writing process? Do you outline, fly by the seat of your pants or a combination of both?

A combination. I make a rough outline and then fill in the gaps and blanks as I go along. I usually know how I want my book to begin, how I want my main characters to meet, and I know some scenes that I want in the book. I like to get a feel for my characters and what drives them and allow them to lead me. There are times when I know exactly how I want the book to end and other times when I have absolutely no idea. Writing is all about being creative and I find it difficult to be creative if I am following one set plan or outline.

Do you have a ritual when it comes to writing?

Not really...There are some days when I plan to just write. I make some tea and settle down with my computer for hours, but usually I don't have the spare time. I generally write in the mornings or late evenings. Or, if I have a great idea that can't wait, I will start writing where ever I am using whatever I can, paper and pen, my phone, or a computer.

Do you plan all your characters out before you start a story or do they develop as you write?

I would have to say both. I do create bios for my characters, I like to know about their pasts. They also develop as I write, I get a feel for how they would act in certain situations, how they would speak, and so on. The characters are the driving force behind the story and I allow them to lead me where ever seems best for them and the plot.

Did you pick the title for your book? If it has been changed please tell us about the process.

Picking a title is the hardest part of writing, at least for me. I spend days if not weeks bouncing title ideas around.

Do you have any other author names? If so, what are they and what's different about what you write under each name.

I use Amanda Varian for my young adult novels and Amanda J. Greene for my adult romance novels.

Do you like to mix genres?

Caressed by Moonlight is a mixture of romance sub-genres, historical and paranormal. I do like mix genres, romance adventure, romance crime, etc. I am a sucker for a good romance in any genre.

How many books do you plan on writing each year?

I hope to write two books a year. I would love to write more, but my time is consumed by school work.

Thank you all very much for your time and reading my interview,

Amanda J. Greene
