What's your book about?
New York Times bestselling author Monica Murphy begins a sexy new contemporary romance series—perfect for fans of Christina Lauren and Emma Chase—that introduces three sisters born to wealth, raised to succeed, ready to love, destined to make waves.
I’ve moved through life doing what’s expected of me. I’m the middle daughter, the dutiful daughter. The one who braved a vicious attack and won. The one who devoted herself to her family’s cosmetics empire. The one who met an ambitious man and fell in love. We were going to run Fleur Cosmetics together, Zachary and I.
Until he got a promotion and left me in the dust. Maybe it’s for the best, between his disloyalty and his wandering eye. But another man was waiting for me. Wanting me. He too has an overwhelming thirst for success, just like Zachary—perhaps even more so. He’s also ruthless. And mysterious. I know nothing about Ryder McKay beyond that he makes me feel things I’ve never experienced before.
One stolen moment, a kiss, a touch . . . and I’m hooked. Ryder’s like a powerful drug and I’m an addict who doesn’t want to be cured. He tells me his intentions aren’t pure and I believe him. For once I don’t care. I’m willing to risk everything just to be with him. Including my heart. My soul.
What should readers expect from you titles?
My new adult books (the ONE WEEK GIRLFRIEND series) are angsty, sexy, a little dark.
With my new series (THE FOWLER SISTERS, including OWNING VIOLET, STEALING ROSE & TAMING LILY), the stories are much, much sexier, still full of angst and darkness with a hint of glamour.
What's next for you as an author?
Well, the next book from The Fowler Sisters series will be out March 3, 2015 - STEALING ROSE.
I also write as Karen Erickson and I have a pretty full schedule now through the first half of 2015, kicking off with GAME FOR TONIGHT, the last in my Game for It series with Entangled Brazen's line (came out 11/17).
What is your favorite way to procrastinate?
Oh, I am an expert procrastinator, and I honed my skills in college. Ha ha.
I find the Internet to be a huge distraction. I can skip around on sites all day long, play on social media (Twitter is my weakness as is Instagram), clean out my inbox, do a little research. I could go on and on.
Luckily I do find the strength to finally withstand all the distractions and actually write something.
Do you feel music has inspired your writing?
Oh yes! I make playlists for pretty much every book I write. I love Spotify, which allows me to put together my own playlist and share it with everyone.
My Spotify profile:
I also love Pandora where I listen to certain stations and it's like they reach into my brain and find all of my favorite songs. A little creepy sometimes how that happens!
What's your everyday life like? Do you write full-time or do you also hold another job?
I'm lucky enough that I write full time, which I love working from home so I can be there for my kids when they need me. Plus, my work wardrobe consists of yoga pants and T-shirts - can't beat that!
I get up early to get my kids ready for school and then I settle in at my desk, read email, catch up on social media before I dive in and start writing, editing, whatever's on the schedule.
It's also a curse to work from home because I tend to work a lot - sometimes too much. After the kids go to bed and if I'm on deadline, for instance, I go right back to writing.
Are you an introvert or extrovert?
I'm an extrovert! I love people, I always have. I've worked retail and with the public in various jobs throughout my life and I must confess, it can sometimes get lonely, being a writer and working from home. But I have my characters to keep me company so I'm good.
Big thank you to Night Owl Reviews for having me today and a huge thank you to all the readers out there! Your support means the world to me.
Hope you check out STEALING ROSE, coming 3/3/2015!
