Current Release: Irresistible Force

Describe your current release by starting out with "In a world".

In a world where adrenaline runs high, so does the force of desire. For Shay Appleton, it’s love at first sight when a gorgeous stray dog is brought into the animal shelter where she works. She just knows he’ll make a terrific watch dog—and with an abusive ex who won’t let go, she needs all the protection she can get. Shay has no idea that her new pet is actually a trained police K-9 named Bogart—until Bogart’s even more gorgeous, human partner, Officer James Cannon shows up on her doorstep, claiming she stole his dog. However, once he gets closer to her, he realizes that this stubborn, independent woman not only needs a guard dog, she needs James as well. Someone is stalking her, and threatening her life. When danger meets desire, will James risk his career and his best friend…to protect the woman who’s stolen his heart? - Book #1 in the K-9 Rescue Series

What are you working on?

FORCE OF NATURE - Book #3 of the K-9 Rescue Series. The story is about a vet who has returned stateside, wounded in body and spirit. It takes a remarkable woman and a special dog to bring him back to life when they are all put in jeopardy.

FORCE OF ATTRACTION - Book#2, will be out in Spring, 2014

Getting a book to market often takes a village. Who has helped you on the way?

My agent of many years, Denise Marcil. She has seen me through many incarnations. My personal hero, husband Chris, who puts up with a writer and is a great copy editor, among other things. K-9 Officer Brad Thompson, who's my expert for this series. My editor Rose Hilliard who first saw promise in this series idea. My Beta team of readers who help me hone my stories by giving a reader's perspective.

Do you have a favorite or interesting reader meet moment?

Many years ago when I was writing historical romance under another name, a woman came to book signing for several writers and asked who wrote such and such a book. I confessed I did, though she was so emotional I wasn't certain that confession was wise. Then she told me that I had gotten her through the worst night of her life. Recently, she had been waiting overnight to find out about a biopsy. She couldn't sleep and so picked up my book and started reading. It was so engrossing that she kept reading. When she finished the book it was morning. The night of waiting was over and she got a call an hour later with good news. That really touched me, that my story could distract her from a terrible night. That's why I write, to entertain and take my readers away from their worlds for a little while.

What is your favorite way to procrastinate?

I like to do research on the subjects that my books are about. I really get caught up in making certain the details are plausible, if not actual fact. I can waste a day reading about Belgian Malanois, or trying to answer the question: 'What do you call that doohickey thingamabob?' I know a little about a lot of things. And reading, just one more chapter, please.

This is a fun series for me, to make my dog characters hero(ine)s along side their human partners. Romance and suspense, best of both worlds. I hope readers will agree.
