Describe your current release by starting out with "In a world".

In a world where by-the-book Investigators are found dead in seedy motel rooms, Sheriff Walt Longmire stretches his jurisdiction and the patience of his pregnant daughter by going undercover in nearby Campbell County where the disappearance of three women down a dark road. Any Other Name. George Guidall who does the audio version of my books says it has the funniest dialogue scenes of any of my books so far... So there's that. (Viking, pubdate: May 13th)

What are you working on?

Dry Bones, the next Walt Longmire novel... In a world where the fossilized remains of the largest, most complete Tyrannosaurus, Jen, are discovered by the High Plains Dinosaur Museum in Abraroka County, no wait the rancher whose land it was found on is claiming Jen, but wait, he's an Indian rancher so the Tribe claims Jen, but then the Federal Government says the land is actually on federal lease land... Anyway, you get the point.

Getting a book to market often takes a village. Who has helped you on the way?

My agent Gail Hochman.

Do you have a favorite or interesting reader meet moment?

Probably the waitress who asked me where I got my Absaroka County Sheriff's cap. I told her I was Craig Johnson and she said, "So?"

"Im the guy that writes the books that the TV show is based on."

"There are books?"

Sigh.

What is your favorite way to procrastinate?

Wait a minute and I'll get back to you on that... Watching Longmire on A&E.

After Any Other Name (May 13th 2014), the next book in the Walt Longmire series is a collection of short stories with Viking/Penguin due out in October, Wait for Signs...
