Current Release: The Hidden Child

What's your book about?

In a world of good and evil, cruel things will inevitably happen to even the most innocent of places. Once again, the quiet life in the old fishermen’s town of Fjällbacka is stirred up again when dark secrets rise to the surface.

What should readers expect from you titles?

They should expect intriguing crime fiction stories with a blend of everyday domestic drama that most people can relate to.

What's your writing process like?

I always start a novel with writing the end, revealing the final scene with everything it might include. That creates the basis for the rest of the novel.

The first period of a new manuscript is all about thorough research about subjects, environments and historical facts that will be explored in the novel. I really want my story and my characters to feel realistic, even though they are fictional.

Which authors do you follow religiously?

I read the work of many authors, but Michael Connelly, Stephen King, Donna Tartt and Siri Hustvedt are some of my favorites.

What books have you analyzed to help grow yourself as an author?

Agatha Christie was a very early influencer when it came to crime fiction. Before I was ten I had read most of her books! Still, she remains a great source of inspiration.

What's next for you as an author?

More crime fiction and domestic drama presented by Erica and Patrick! There are three more novels waiting to be translated for the American market and as we speak, I’m writing my ninth crime fiction novel, The Lion Tamer.

What is your favorite way to procrastinate?

Instagram and Twitter are my top two favorites for procrastinating and a great way of staying in contact with readers and keeping myself updated. Then comes watching great crime fiction series on TV. I’m a true crime fiction nerd!

Getting a book to market often takes a village. Who has helped you on the way?

Success is something that you have to work hard for, and for me it has not happened overnight. The key to my success has been a clear strategy for my novels and an enormous dose of focus and discipline. I have a lot to thank Bengt Nordin, my first agent, who was brave enough to believe in me and take on my first novel, The Ice Princess.

Do you have a favorite or interesting reader meet moment?

One of my most recent ones was in Mexico during the Guadalajara International Book Fair and during the French book festival Quais du Polar. I’m always so touched by all these great readers that sometimes stand in line for hours to say hello. It’s very surreal and moving.

What's a writing day like for you?

A writing day for me is a day devoted to just that, cleared from other activities that might steal my focus. It usually involves a large pot of coffee and takes place either at my house or at my favorite coffee shop. I need my mind to be solely on the manuscript and cleared from possible distractions.

Do you feel music has inspired your writing?

Absolutely, music is very important to me and fuels my creative process. I even started to write lyrics myself. Music broadens my perspective.

Are you an introvert or extrovert?

I’m extrovert and I like to express myself. But I can also be very shy.

Wrapping Up:

Thank you all for all your love and support. You mean the world to me!

Hope you like my new novel, The Hidden Child, which launched in U.S. on the 15th of May.
