Hi Gabriele! It's a pleasure to have you on Night Owl Reviews. Please share with us your story "Incompetent Gods". What's it about?

It's about gods, of course, and people, and about taking another look at the myths abounding in our society. Goblin revels in his childhood traumas instead of moving past them, letting the evil fester and turn black. Queen Louhi is confronted to democracy, and all she can see are its lies. The gods are forced to face their impotence in a world that is losing faith and spirituality. It's also about power, the meaning of it, and what you can do, must do, if power falls in the wrong hands.

What is your writing place like?

It's a medium sized room, with apple-green walls, white boards for keeping track of my story lines, a few paintings, old pictures of my family. There's a couch that I never sit on - I guess it's for the cats and piles of papers... The furnishings, my desk, the dresser where I put my printer, an antique secrétaire, and a big bookcase, are in a caramel colored wood. There are dictionaries everywhere, especially when I'm translating. The lamps and leather tulip office chair are black, in the mid-century style that I love.

Is your home a place of order or chaos?

Order, usually, except when it's chaos...

When it comes to your first draft, do you write via computer or notepad? or Both?

Do you have any kids? Has your writing inspired them to read / write?

What's next for you as an author?

"Inclement Gods" is coming out in June, "Incoherent Gods" in December.

How has reading affected your life?

Reading has been my window to the world, has permitted me to see it from so many different angles... In this increasingly polarized world, never forget to keep your sights open. Read on, help keep it multi-dimensional.

Do you like to cook?

Yes, but not when I'm alone.

Do you have a newsletter? If yes, where can readers sign up?

No, but my publisher does -

Do you have any pets? If yes, do your pets play a part in your writing?

Two cats - and one of them has recently inspired a character, so yes. However, most of the time they actively disturb my writing instead of helping...

What's your favorite restaurant?

I like too many of them to choose. Maybe the one I used to own? Le Shack resto-bar in Quebec City ;)

At what point did you know you wanted to publish a book?

When I finished writing the first draft of Incompetent Gods, in 2009 - Yes, it took THAT long

What is our favorite drink?

White Alsatian wine

Do you feel music has inspired your writing?

I'm not a very musical - I can't write when music is playing.

What's your day job like?

Since we've moved to the US, I have been spared a day job. but lately I have started giving French and Creative Writing classes.

Is there a book you would recommend to other authors / aspiring authors to help them with their writing?

I really enjoyed On Writing, by Stephen King

What place is on the top of your to travel to list?

Again, so many places... India and Egypt are the top two.

What genres do you write in and what inspired you to write in these genres?

Satirical Fantasy - My inspirations are Alice in Wonderland, the Discworld series, anything by Douglas Adams.

It's been great having you.

Thanks everyone! Your time is precious, and that you chose to spend a little of it with me touches me greatly.
