Interview

V.K. is a wife/husband writing team—Vanessa Kelly and Randall Sykes—who write romantic suspense and single title contemporary romance.

Hi Vanessa and Randy. Thanks for joining.

Current Release: Summer at the Shore

What's your book about?

It's a friends to lovers story. Ryan and Morgan grew up in the same small town but went their separate ways after high school, and they now rarely see each other. That changes when Morgan moves back home to run her family's B & B, and Ryan has the summer off from his job as a private security officer who travels the world. But Morgan and Ryan have always had a thing for each other--and now they have the chance to find out what it is!

What should readers expect from you titles?

This is book 2 in the Seashell Bay Series of small town romances set on a pretty little island off the coast of Maine. Readers should expect sunshine, beaches, local festivals, friends and families who know everybody's business, and a whole lot of romance! Publishers Weekly said our books have "the perfect small town setting." We think our stories are heartfelt, romantic, and sexy.

Which authors do you follow religiously?

Vanessa: Lisa Kleypas, Elizabeth Hoyt, Jo Goodman, Deborah Harkness, Jeannie Lin, Kristan Higgins, and Lori Foster.

Randy: Lee Child, Lisa See, and Pat Conroy.

What's next for you as an author?

We have a third book in the Seashell Bay Series coming out in early 2016. SEE YOU AT SUNSET will be out in February. Vanessa also is working on a new historical romance series for Kensington called The Improper Princesses.

What is your favorite way to procrastinate?

Vanessa - My favorite way is by noodling around the internet. I like to hang out at Buzzfeed and on Facebook, which is a huge time suck for me.

Randy - I like to follow baseball teams--I'm in a fantasy baseball league, which is an excellent way to procrastinate.

If you could travel to another time, would you choose past or future or would you stick where you are at? And Why?

Vanessa - I would probably pick the future, hoping it would look a lot like Star Trek. I want to own a spaceship!

Randy - I would prefer to stay in the here and now. I like my life and don't want to mess it up!

Are you an introvert or extrovert?

Vanessa - I'm an extrovert.

Randy - I'm an introvert.

So we pretty much cancel each other out.

Wrapping Up:

Thanks for joining us today! We hope you'll check out Summer at the Shore, out on June 30th!
