Current Release: The Collar
What's your book about?
THE COLLAR is the story of Jeff and Dena, a couple who were once in a collared Dom/sub relationship before tragedy broke them up. Even though years have past, they find themselves unable to move forward. In order to finally put the past in the past, Jeff plans to move across the country. Then he finds out Dena’s being threatened and he’ll move heaven and earth to keep her safe.
What should readers expect from you titles?
I believe in Happily Ever Afters. One of my worst reading experiences was a so-called “Romance” I picked up and the hero died in the next to last chapter. Dead heroes or heroines are a hard limit for me! Also, ones of my goals in writing is to create more than a sexy scene. I want the overall story to focus more on the relationship of the people involved, not so much on what they do when they’re na-ked.
What's your writing process like?
I always start out knowing two things about a book: the beginning and the end. I may have a few ideas about how the story will go, but it never follows the path I think it will. To me, this is one of my favor-ite things about writing, those plot twists that pop up out of nowhere, the characters who do or say things things you never imagined, and those AH-HA moments when an idea hits you and you can’t wait to write it down. You just can’t outline that!
What's next for you as an author?
I’m working on a dark erotic romance I’m super excited about. It’s like nothing I’ve ever done before and while it’s somewhat of a stretch, it’s a lot fun. It’s also first person present and if you know me, you know I HATE first person present. But the character wouldn’t speak to me in other way, so we made a deal. I won’t bitch about writing in first person present and she’ll keep the story flowing.
Do you have a favorite or interesting reader meet moment?
Most people in my real life don’t know my pen name, so I don’t often get to discuss my books with people I know. I had an interesting call from my husband one day, not too long ago. He was talking with a lady at his office and she asked what his wife did. He told her I was an author, but that I wrote under a pen name. She asked what it was and he said, “Tara Sue -” She interrupted and said “OMG, you’re married to Tara Sue Me! I LOVE her!” He gave me her number and I called her and we talked. It was very surreal and I still smile when I think about it!
Are you an introvert or extrovert?
I’m so much an introvert! Social media is often a challenge because I’ll think about posting something and think, “Does anyone really care to know this? I mean, really?”. And at book signings I very rare-ly strike up a conversation with someone I don’t know. I will say I’m more extroverted now than when I was younger. Maybe in my old age I’m becoming an extrovert!
What is your favorite or most fun place to shop online?
I’m a hardcore bargain shopper and I don’t buy anything if it’s not on sale. It’s almost like a high when you find a really good deal. (My favorite bargain find is a Theory jacket I found for $0.99 with the tags still on). I have several sites I can check for bargains and I’ll search for ANYTHING: travel, clothes, watches. You name it, I’ll find a way to get it cheap!
Thank you so much for having me!
