Hi Readers. Today I get to share with you Sidney Halston. She's stopped on over to answer some questions and showcase her new book, Laid Out.
As an Army brat, Violet could never meet her dad’s high expectations. But in the eyes of her best friend, Cain, she could do no wrong. He even insisted that he should be her first kiss. Now, twelve years later, Cain is all grown up, hardened by years in special ops and always looking for a good fight. He knows he’s bad for Violet. His work is dangerous, and his hobbies are downright deadly. As a private mercenary and a MMA fighter, he could never let such an innocent soul into his world. One moment he’s overbearing and overprotective and the next he pushes her away. Violet is all grown up and has been through hell and back, the only thing she wants is Cain back in her life but his mixed signals is driving her crazy. They both know that once they cross the line between friends and lovers, there’s no turning back.
What should readers expect from you titles?
The Worth the Fight series are all stand-alone novels that center around an MMA Fighting Academy. Readers can expect sexy overbearing men that turn to putty once they meet the woman of their dreams. My books have a lot of humor mixed in, but LAID OUT, in particular, has a high angst factor that will likely have you reaching for the tissues.
Which authors do you follow religiously?
Oh, there’s so many I don’t want to leave any out. Kristen Ashley and Laura Kaye are my favorites but I will also always one-click Jessica Clare, Tammy Falkner, Kylie Scott, Aurora Rosa Reynolds, and Carly Phillips. These are all instant one-clicks for me. But there are so many others that I love like Toni Aleo, Ella Fox, Tijan…gah! The list is too long.
What's next for you as an author?
I’m signed to write 6 books with Random House for the Worth the Fight Series. LAID OUT is number 4, and FIGHTING DIRTY, which I just finished writing, is number 5. I am currently writing the final one and so far, it’s been a bitter-sweet experience. My books have a lot of character cross-over between them. I’ve spent about two years with all these characters and it’s sad to see them go off and live happily ever afters without me. I have a few things I’m excited to work on once I finish the 6th book of the series, so, I hope everyone stays in touch with me to find out what’s next.
What is your favorite way to procrastinate?
Reading! I am a master at procrastination. The closer the deadline the more books I buy and read. In fact, I will even volunteer to review other author’s work when I should be writing myself. I can easily read a book a day, it’s a problem really. I just can’t seem to stop!
If you could have dinner with an author, who would it be?
If he was still alive I’d say Sidney Sheldon. He was my inspiration and my favorite author growing up. But now as an author myself, I would love to sit and have dinner, or a drink, with Kristen Ashley. The woman can do no wrong. It is so difficult to write strong male and female characters and she does it seamlessly. Her stories are mesmerizing and I love her writing style. Oh….how I’d love to talk to her about Tate.
What's a writing day like for you?
I still work full-time and I have 3 kids and a husband. Therefore, I don’t begin to write until about 9 pm. I go to Starbucks, crank up the music in my ear buds and write for about 2 hours every day, seven days a week.
Thanks for joining us. Do you have anything else you would like to share?
Thank you all for hanging out with me today. It’s been fun. All of my books are stand-alones, if you pick one up, feel free to contact me and let me know what you think. I love hearing from my readers. XOXO
