Hi Rachel, Thanks for joining us. What's your current release?

Begging for It: Erotic Fantasies for Women

What's your book about?

Begging for It is all about women fulfilling sexual fantasies, from the common to the outrageous. Some of them have questions or experience uncertainty and some of them completely go for it, without an ounce of shame. It’s erotica, but really the subtext is about being free to pursue your deepest passions, whatever they may be.

Variety, both in terms of the types of sex and the types of characters having that sex. I want readers to see themselves in these characters, but also get to read about women who are different from them who they just might be inspired by, or at least, turned on by.

Getting a book to market often takes a village. Who has helped you on the way?

My authors are my biggest helpers. One of them, Lauren Marie Fleming, passed along one of her author copies of Begging for It to an old friend, who happens to be a hot guy, and took a photo of him shirtless holding the book for Instagram. I wish I were at the beach and could do that but since I can’t be, I loe that my authors can!

If you could travel to another time, would you choose past or future or would you stick where you are at? And Why?

Part of me would love to travel back to the 1960’s, because I’ve heard so many incredible stories about it, but at the same time, I’m pretty much glued to my iPhone and am not sure I would be able to survive without it!

What's a writing day like for you?

Every day is different, but usually I'm at my laptop by six a.m. and then I assess what the most urgent tasks are ahead and try to tackle them one by one. I love the fact that I write erotica as well as write personal essays and do journalism so one day I might be writing about sexual fantasies and the next The Real Housewives of New Jersey! I feel very lucky that I get to cover a range of topics and that helps ensure I don’t burn out on any of them. I love romance and erotica and sexuality but if that were all I wrote about I don’t think I would last very long as an author.

Are you an introvert or extrovert?

I used to be a complete extrovert but over the last four years, after moving from Brooklyn to suburban New Jersey, I’ve become much more of an introvert. I still love hanging out with my friends but happily pass most of my days alone for the most part, and even when I’m working around other people, I tend to be in my head and in my own little world, which I prefer.

What's next for you as an author?

My next anthology will be Best Women’s Erotica of the Year, Volume 2, out December 13, and I’ll be doing readings form it in New York and L.A. with my contributors.

Thanks for joining us Rachel!
