Tammie King here today to share with you the writings of Joe Cosentino. Joe is the author of the new Nicky and Noah mystery series. Book one is titled Drama Queen.

While directing the college play production, Professor of Directing Nicky Abbondanza must use his drama skills (including impersonating other people) to figure out who is playing the role of murderer on campus before it is lights out for Nicky and his colleagues. Complicating matters is Nicky’s huge crush on Noah Oliver, a gorgeous assistant professor in his department, who may or may not be involved with Nicky's cocky graduate assistant, and is also the top suspect for the murders!

Hi Joe. What should readers expect from you titles?

Humor, mystery, romance, gorgeous men, plot twists and turns, and a surprise ending. What more could you ask?

What's your writing process like?

I have a terrific home study with a window seat, fireplace with a cherry wood mantel (like Martin Anderson in DRAMA QUEEN), a huge cherry wood desk, and cherry wood bookshelves. Since i was a professional actor, I approach my writing in the same way as acting. I start with character biographies and ask questions about each character. Who do they love, hate, fear? What do they want? What is standing in the way of them getting what they want? What was their history? Then I get them talking to one another and the magic happens. I write an outline, but I deviate from it constantly. My spouse reads my second draft then I write my third draft, which goes to the publisher.

What books have you analyzed to help grow yourself as an author?

I try to emulate Armistead Maupin's quirky, loveable, and interesting characters. I love Agatha Christie's plot twists and turns, red herrings, inversions, and surprise endings.

What's next for you as an author?

I have five novels releasing from three publishers in the next eight months. Here's the lineup. A SHOOTING STAR (the second novella after AN INFATUATION in the IN MY HEART SERIES, from Dreamspinner Press 9/15). A HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS (a holiday novella taking place in Capri, Italy, from Dreamspinner Press 12/15). PORCELAIN DOLL (the second Jana Lane mystery, where ex-child star Jana Lane makes a comeback film and catches a murderer, from Wild Rose Press 1/16). THE NAKED PRINCE AND OTHER TALES FROM FAIRYLAND (gay fairytales, from Dreamspinner Press 2/16). DRAMA MUSCLE (the second Nicky and Noah mystery, where Nicky and Noah have to figure out why musclemen are dropping like weights on campus, from Lethe Press 3/16).

Do you have a favorite or interesting reader meet moment?

At an author talk/reading/signing, a man told me I am the wittiest person he's ever met. He said since laughter is the best medicine, he wanted to marry me. I thanked him but told him I'm already married.

What's your day job like?

I'm a college theatre professor/department head. Martin Anderson, Nicky and Noah’s department head in DRAMA QUEEN, is based on me. He’s a loyal, hardworking department head and professor who fully supports his faculty colleagues, office assistant, and the students in his department. Like me, he is also a little bit, well quite a bit, of a gossip. Thankfully nobody at my college has been murdered!

Thanks for joining us Joe. Do you have anything else you would like to share with our readers?

Look for A SHOOTING STAR in September from Dreamspinner Press. It also takes place in the theatre dpeartment at a college. This one in Colorado. It's a funny and touching love story you won't want to miss. I love to hear from readers at Join my mailing list to find out about special offers. Like my Facebook page.
