Hi Carolyn! Thanks for coming over to NOR.

Good mornin’ everyone at Night Owl Reviews! Thank you letting me stop by today and visit with all y’all about "The Barefoot Summer". It’s the story of three women who had no idea they were all married to the same man until they show up at his funeral. I understand you’ve got some questions for me? I’ve got a cup of coffee and a leftover Christmas cookie so let’s get started. I love the opportunity to talk about this book!

Yummmmm. A Christmas cookie and coffee. I'm in.

How is this book the same from your other titles? How is it different?

The "Barefoot Summer" is a romantic women’s fiction book like The Lullaby Sky, The Ladies’ Room and The Wedding Pearls. The core has to do with friendship but there’s romance on the back burner throughout the book. I can’t seem to write a book without an HEA so there’s that, too. It’s different from the other books because there is a little touch of mystery in the story line. The detective, Waylon, thinks one of those three women, if not all three, were involved in the murder of their husband.

You have three widows that each get their own story in this book. Did you have a favorite? Maybe one you related to the most?

Kate, Jamie and Amanda are the widows and I think that each one had their time as my favorite. Kate was my fave in the beginning because she’d been with Conrad the longest and she knew he was a con man but she refused to give him the divorce he wanted. No way was his con act going to cost her money. I liked her stamina and determination and that she didn’t let him run over her. But then I learned to love Jamie’s sass and her mother instincts. I liked that she didn’t back down from Kate even though she was slightly intimidated by the older wife. Amanda got on my nerves with her whining but the evening that she faced reality, she had her time as my favorite. She put aside the fantasy world she’d been living in, pulled up her big girl britches, and took the first step in moving forward. That’s when she became my friend as well as the other two.

The theme of the novel is very much starting over. What is the best advice you have for a woman going through a transition in her life?

Trust your heart above all things. It doesn’t have eyes to see if someone is wearing high heels, boots or even flip flops. It won’t lie to you or steer you wrong. Don’t shut the door to new friendships no matter how weird the whole situtation is. One of those friends might help you to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

What can readers expect next from you?

"The Barefoot Summer" kicks off 2017, which is what I call a bumper crop year for books. Here’s the lineup for the year: "Wicked Cowboy Charm", Jan. 31—and thank you for the amazing Top Pick Review on Deke’s story; "Talk Cowboy To Me", March 7; "The Lilac Bouqet", March 28; "The Toughest Cowboy in Texas", May 30; "The Strawberry Hearts Diner", July 25; a reissue of "Lucky in Love", August; and then a cowboy Christmas book in Sept/Oct. titled "Long, Tall Cowboy Christmas".

But don’t take off your boots or put away your reading glasses because there’s more cowboys and women’s fiction already on the calendar for 2018!

Thank you so much for letting me stop by today. It’s been fun to get to prop up my feet and talk about my new release. Now it’s my turn to ask the readers a question—what would you do if you found out your husband had two other wives?

Thanks so much Carolyn for stopping on over and chatting with us.
