Current Release: Famous After Death
What's your book about?
How often have you seen someone post a shocking video online? In this thriller three Miami teenagers set out to play pranks that go viral, but they end up killing someone. The resulting attention their post brings encourages them to do it again, and again. The police try to discover who's posting these videos before they make more victims famous.
What should readers expect from you titles?
My stories are fast-paced and jarring, like a car chase on wet pavement. This is a South Florida-set story where you can practically feel the sweat on your skin.
What's next for you as an author?
After such hearing such positive feedback from my debut novel Mute, I'm working on a sequel.
Silenced is in draft form and I'm conducting the first edit. I'm excited about this novel because it'll have large, bold action scenes and be more frightening. It'll be centered around a forbidden romance.
If you could have dinner with an author, who would it be?
I would love to meet Joseph Heller and understand how he threw Catch 22 together in such a way that the order seemed random, yet made perfect sense. And that sense of humor.
Do you feel music has inspired your writing?
Most of my writing is done to music. For Famous After Death, I listened to Velvet Revolver, Guns & Roses, Avenged Sevenfold, and Metallica, among others. I needed to capture the adolescent rage of the teenagers.
What's your day job like?
I'm a reporter at the South Florida Business Journal so I'm busy all day cranking out articles. I cover real estate in an exploding market and I get to meet some amazing people.
Are you an introvert or extrovert?
I'm introverted around people I don't know. I have a hard time introducing myself and making small talk. But I'm chatty, and sometimes loud, around people I know well. At the same time, I can get up in front of a crowd and make a speech, yet I'm not comfortable mingling in the crowd.
I want to invite anyone who has a favorite line from Famous After Death to post a video of them reading it out loud on my Facebook fan page. I'm going to compile the best ones.
