An Open Letter to My Readers
To those of you who have read my tales of fantasy and adventures in worlds of imagination, thank you. I hope they help you escape from your everyday lives and bring you a touch of joy. To those looking for well-written fantasies to read, I hope you’ll consider adding one of mine to your to-be-read list.
What else do I want to say? When I first started out writing, the adventure, the sword fights, and the epic quest were all that I thought I was writing. Then my beta readers pointed out the romance was strong and I discovered I had gone from being a romantic at heart to a romance writer.
A question often asked of authors is how much of ourselves do we put into our characters. Age and an increased number of published books have revealed that I am more in my characters than I had thought.
As to how do we compare? My hair is silver like Ellspeth of the Windmaster Novels. I prefer not to be in the limelight like Glyn who appears in Hatchling’s Mate and Hatchling’s Vengeance, but can stand in front of a group of people and talk if need be. One thing I will say I share with my heroes and heroines is many of our attitudes regarding justice, loyalty, and kin.
There are differences. Ellspeth is a ship captain and a leader of men, whereas that is not a role I aspire to. Although I will admit that during my various careers, more than once my performance reviews stated I made a good “number two.” (For those who don’t follow science fiction, this reference is about Commander Riker, the executive officer of the U.S.S. Enterprise-D.) The comments were made because I was skilled enough to take command and run things, but didn’t have the desire to lead or be in charge.
Another difference is that Ellspeth loved the sea, and I am not a fan of the deep blue. My preference is for land travel like Pelra from the upcoming book in the Windmaster series, tentatively titled Windmaster Legend.
I’ve talked writing and characters, and in doing so revealed a little about myself. I hope you’ve enjoyed this visit and would love to have you write me. And like all authors, we appreciate our readers and the reviews they leave so I hope you’ll consider checking out one of my works and leaving a few words.
And to end the letter, an invitation to join me and my characters as they fly with dragons and hang out with mages.
Hatchling's Vengeance - The Dragshi Chronicles Book 4
Glyn, former bodyguard and companion to a dragon lord, is now Lady Glynnes Janaleigh, a dragon lord in her own right. And she has found her intended mate. But, her new-found happiness is fleeting. Finding your mate is only half the battle. Keeping them alive is the other.
For a dragshi, duty is more than administering justice or saving the innocent. More than one suitor has fallen from the sky during a mating flight. Even worse, fate decrees mating fights don’t always involve the partner you want.
Vengeance takes many paths. The leader called the Parant means to have his, no matter how long it takes or how many innocents die in the attempt. For the last two unattached dragon shifters, their only weapons to survive their destinies are their swords—and love. Sometimes not even dragon fire and talons are enough to overcome the mind control wielded by the leader called—the Parant.
Book Four of the Dragshi Chronicles continues the tale of the dragshi, a human who can exchange bodies with a dragon. But the freedom of the skies comes with a price.
Although the stories in the Dragshi Chronicles are connected, each book stands alone as an individual read
