What is it about knights that fascinates me? I am not sure. From a very early age they have. I recall getting toy knights on chargers from my grandfather when I was about three, remember holding them - one silver knight, one black - and knowing this was something special to me.
I love history in general, find it constantly drawing me to all the aspects. Political, how people lived, how they dressed, what they ate. No detail seemed too small fix my attention. However, the Medieval period, with knights and ladies, was my favorite.
So, I suppposed it was not surprising I chose to write about them. For most of my life I had heard the lore about an English knight who came to Scotland to claim a Scots lass. Then I was working with my grandfather to restore family records, and came across a reference to it in a family journey. The power of the tale seized my imagination. I mean a sexy English knight coming in a time of war to claim a strong-willed Scottish lass...what wasn't there to love? Thus, the story of Julian Challon and Tamlyn MacShane was born.
Coming in 2009 - One Snowy Knight and 2010 Redemption, and Yield to the Knight. They will continue the "Dragons of Challon" series, with the struggle of Scotland to free itself from the control of Edward Longshanks.
