Welcome NOR readers to this week's reviewer showcase. Before I tell you about this Thursday's pick of the week, I'd like to take a minute to thank Tammie King for filling in for me last week while I was on vacation. I hope you all had the opportunity to stop by and read her entry. Now that I'm back from vacation, I'm looking forward to getting back to my review work and doing my Thursday blog entry for our devoted readers. Having said that, let's kick off this week's showcase by telling you about: His Woman by Diana Cosby.
This is the second book in the MacGruder Brothers series and I enjoyed it just as much as Ms. Cosby's first book, His Captive.
In this installment, we are introduced to Sir Duncan MacGruder and Lady Isabel Adair. You see, Isabel broke her and Duncan's engagement off three years ago. As if that wasn't bad enough, she provided no explanation for this unthinkable stunt she pulled. Duncan's heart was literally ripped out of his chest over being so betrayed by someone who he loved so deeply. Then, only to add insult to injury, he found out that she had become the Earl of Frasyer's mistress. So Duncan did the only thing he could do to try and heal his broken heart - he decided to totally write Isabel off. Now though, while her brother Symon is in trouble, Symon asks Duncan to protect Isabel if anything should happen to him. Although it will go against everything he believes and feels toward Isabel at this present time, he will not break the promise he makes to his friend Symon. But just how far would Duncan go to protect Isabel if the need were to arise?
Ms. Cosby knows how to entertain her readers and she tells an intriguing story every single time. As I understand it, she is hard at work finalizing the next book in this series. This is definitely a series you shouldn't pass up!

Lady Isabel Adair did the unthinkable three years ago. Without any explanation given, she broke off her engagement to Sir Duncan MacGruder a week before they were to be wed and then became the Earl of Frasyer’s mistress. This cut Duncan to the core and he felt betrayed, confused and disheartened by Isabel’s actions. She swore she loved him and accepted his marriage proposal, but then ran off with Frasyer. Duncan could never find it in his heart to forgive Isabel for making him look like the fool in front of not only his family, but also all the people Duncan and Isabel knew.
Now, three years have passed and Isabel still harbors her hidden secrets from everyone surrounding her. She is living with the guilt of breaking Duncan’s heart and for betraying him and the MacGruders brothers’ trust. When Duncan shows up to rescue her from Frasyer’s dungeon for fraternizing with her brother, Symon, who is considered a rebel, Isabel is reminded how much things went array when she broke off their engagement. What puzzles Isabel even more is that Duncan is keeping his word to Symon to protect her with his own life. Why, after breaking their engagement and Duncan’s heart, would he lay his own life on the line to satisfy Symon’s request? Could he still be harboring feelings for her or is it just that he’s keeping a promise that he made to her dying brother?
This was a magnificent read that I fully became immersed in from the very first page. This is the second story in the MacGruder Brothers series and it was as entertaining as Ms. Cosby’s first book. The author penned a wonderfully creative storyline and wrapped it around well rounded characters that you just couldn’t help but fall in love with. Honestly, it’s hard not to fall in love with the devilishly handsome and sexy MacGruder brothers. All along I prayed that Isabel would finally open up and tell Duncan all the secrets she was withholding from him and all the people that were close to her. I felt Duncan deserved to know the truth, but I couldn’t imagine just how that situation would be able to play itself out in the end. Would Duncan even care to listen to Isabel if she offered an explanation to him three years later? Could he find it in his heart to forgive her for what she had done to him? The only way for you to find out these answers is to read this superbly written story yourself. You will not be disappointed. I eagerly look forward to reading more stories written by Ms. Cosby in the near future.
