What are Immortal Elementals? by Rayanne Haines
Hi everyone. My name is Rayanne Haines and I’m the author of Fire Born, book one of the Guardian Series. In Book one, I introduce you to Alex Taleisin, A Fire Elemental. I also introduce a cache of other elemental beings. So, who and what, are the elementals in my world?
The Elementals control wind, fire, earth and water.
In my world, Elementals are nature’s angel. An immortal being imbued with the traits of their element and impervious to death through most means. But yes, they can die by decapitation. (or blowing up their entire body). It’s not like they’re knitting themselves back together. After death, their soul travels to the other realm. The other realm is a form of heaven, or Valhalla. Elementals are believed to inhabit all things, so true death is an impossibility.
A gunshot won’t kill them. It will take them out of commission while they heal. An earth elemental can be drowned just like a human could. The difference is that the elemental will come back to life after drowning only to drown again, over and over, until they figure out how to get out of the water. A fire elemental can be buried under the earth, where they will remain essentially being buried alive.
So how do their powers manifest?
An elemental takes on control over their element. In this series, the elementals are branded by their element with a living tattoo. A Fire elemental will have a fire brand over her body that can be used as a defensive tool. The tattoo reacts to the elementals desires and needs. Her hair will catch fire. With training, she’ll be able to expel fire from her hands. She’ll be able to manipulate the element when in contact with it. Her brand (or tattoo) is like a link to the force of the element.
Depending on the strength of a water elemental, they will be able to control either small bodies of water or the sea. All life forces carry water. This makes manipulation over the body an easy feat for a water elemental.
A wind elemental will have the power of the wind at their service. They may whip storms into existence from nothing. They can also use the power of the wind to travel quickly.
An earth element may have a green thumb. Control of the earth comes in many forms from using it to create life, to destroying life with avalanche, earthquake, etc.
In my novel Fire Born, Elementals are a form of flesh and blood. They have children and friendships. They eat, sleep, talk as any human would. They occupy the space between human and spirit. Watchers over the earth where they currently make their home. They are not fairies or sprites or gnomes. They exist instead as the physical embodiment of their element in a human form.
Fire Born - The Guardian Series Book 1
(4.5 Stars Top Pick)
Independent, tough as nails, and fierce to her core, Alex Taleisin can’t quite believe it when she has to fight for her life against something not-quite-human in the YMCA parking lot.
That’s when her aunt lets her in on the family secret. They’re immortal—Elementals to be precise, and Alex is the long-lost daughter of the strongest female warrior of their time.
Her guardian (a freaking Dragon!) and the sexiest man Alex has ever seen gives her a choice. Go with him, learn how to control her fire, and find her father’s people, or try to survive on her own. It’s an easy choice considering she’s only twenty-six. And the Elders may already be on her trail thanks to the fight with the nut job in the parking lot kick-starting her dormant DNA.
Enter an insane grandfather, a shifter with a hidden agenda, and a witch with a shoe addiction, and suddenly loner Alex is wishing for a quiet house in the hills with the dragon she’s falling for.
But a fight is coming and Alex knows the only way to find her answers is to trust her powers and become the warrior she was destined to be.
Rayanne Haines writes Paranormal Romance with Kick Ass Heroines. She believes in magic and all the things we cannot see. She prefers her alpha males a little gritty, and the woman who love them in charge of their own destiny
