Explicitly Yours - A Platonically Complicated Novella
The final frontier. The end of dating. The number one cause of divorce.
I bet you every man who is about to take the plunge experiences a wide range of feelings. As a guy, whose wedding day is only seven days away, I know this.
Anxiety—Nerves are kicking in. Yeah, even confident, cocky guys like me are bound to face nuptial stage fright.
Let’s face it, forever is kind of a long time, right?
Excitement—Coriander and I are going to make it official. I’m marrying my best friend, the one I laugh with, live for, dream with.
Nothing can top this moment.
That is until I got the biggest surprise of my life…
“Remember that as far as everyone knows, we are a nice and normal family.”
WE NEVER MADE it to AQUA. My stomach is still unsettled as if I’m suffering from the most terrible hangover—nauseous and liable to vomit at the slightest provocation.
Dean, being overly protective, called my parents and suggested they join us at our house for dinner instead. So, here we are at home, in the living room, John Coltrane playing softly in the background. The air is infused with the scents of the sandalwood and ginger candle burning on the industrial-inspired coffee table.
My father shrugs off his leather jacket and drapes it over our vintage leather chair, displaying his long-sleeved black shirt. With dark brown locs that fall past his shoulders, tan, fitted soft-cotton twill pants, and motorcycle boots, he’s always been the epitome of rocker chic, owning a style only artists can pull off.
“Where do you see yourself and my daughter in five to ten years?” My father asks Dean as he pours two glasses of scotch.
“As we are.” Dean answers without hesitation. He hands one glass to my dad, then adds, “Happy.”
“You look pale,” My mother says. She is tall, thin, dressed in a mixed patch print dramatic wide leg boho-inspired jumpsuit. Chestnut hair similar to mine brushes her shoulders. Her forest green eyes sweep over my face, then her eyebrows slant downward. “Are you ill? You can’t be sick. You’re getting married in seven days.”
“I’m fine.” I wave a dismissive hand and glance at Dean from across the room. He has the face and body that a GQ model would kill for—hard, clean shaven, chiseled jaw and lean muscles without a single extra ounce of fat. And his presence . . . standing north of six-foot-tall and dressed in dark denim and a tapered blue striped shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his forearms, he drips sex appeal.
My stomach does a funny little flip. A million dirty images of Dean, glistening with sweat on top of me, my deft fingers undoing his zipper, guiding him inside me, fill my mind’s eye.
My skin prickles with raw desire, my nipples tighten in all their pointy glory underneat
