How Good Is Your Intuition?
by Dee J. Adams / NOR Author Page
My third baby has entered the world and it’s just as exciting as when the first two came out. Dangerously Close is twenty-four hours old and I want to talk about something that’s key to the book.
How many of you have a good spidey-sense? Can you tell when someone is watching you or feel the air change when something bad is about to happen? In Dangerously Close, Ashley has some doubts about Paula not long after she hires her. Odd things keep happening, but because she’s still dealing with her recent blindness, Ashley shrugs off her intuition where Paula is concerned. Early in the book, Ashley’s friend Ellie has the feeling that she and Ashley are being watched on the beach. We discover later that her intuition was right on the money.
Sometimes we wear blinders when it comes to making difficult decisions about the people in our lives or the situations we live in. Instead of listening to our intuition, we tend to talk ourselves out of doing what might be best for us. Maybe we’re afraid of change or hurting someone’s feelings. So much of the time, people are afraid of the unknown and choose to live with the status quo, ignoring their intuition completely.
Have you ever been talked into something, or being somewhere or with somebody, that your intuition said was wrong? How did it turn out? Or was there ever a time when you didn’t listen to your intuition and wished you had? Or did something happen where you learned never to doubt your intuition again?
BLURB: DANGEROUSLY CLOSE
What you can't see can kill you.
Bad-boy rock star Seger Hughes hit rock bottom after a near-fatal tragedy at his concert. He hates how his life has spun out of control. After changing his appearance and his name, he transforms into a different man: Mel Summers. Now he just needs a place to hide out from rabid fans and paparazzi.
An isolated cliffside mansion is perfect. Ashley Bristol, his only neighbor, is blind—and her assistant is a classical music fan. They have no clue who he really is, but someone else does and she’s waited her whole life to be with him.
Struggling to find her way after an accident that took her sight, Ashley is determined not to feel anything. Yet she gets to know Mel and can’t help falling for him. When her assistant mysteriously disappears, Ashley must rely on Mel more than ever. But then his past comes back to haunt them both, and just when they must pull together to avoid danger, betrayal and lies threaten to tear them apart…
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Dee J. Adams is a writer, actor, and public speaker. She draws upon her years of experience in Hollywood, both as an actress and a dialogue coach, as a source for much of her writing. Adams has worked with celebrities such as Roseanne, Betty White, Mathew Perry, and George Clooney on network sitcoms and national commercials. She is a member of the Screen Actors Guild, AFTRA, and RWA. She was thrilled to be chosen by Audible.com to narrate two of her own books, Danger Zone and Dangerously Close. Adams is also called upon frequently to give her “itching to pitch workshop” to non-profit organizations and events, including the Writer’s Association of America, Independent Writers Association of Southern California, and was a moderator of the 2012 L.A. Times Festival of Books at USC. But she still dedicates most of her time to her first love - writing.
“I was born and raised in El Paso, Texas and moved to Los Angeles, California, where I acted in television and commercials for almost twenty years. I now write contemporary romantic suspense novels. I think life is tough enough as it is and my books are a good escape from reality. I'm a fan of happily ever after and that's what I deliver.”
Adams has been hailed by both her peers and readers as a “must read” new author. She is published by Carina Press, and three of her books in the Adrenaline Highs series: Dangerous Race and Danger Zone, and Dangerously Close are available now.
