Who is authoress Angelica Winthrop and why is she a character we will remember after closing the book?
Angelica is not your typical Regency debutante. Instead of sighing over romantic novels, she devours gothic novels and feminist literature. Mary Shelley, John Keats, and Mary Wollstonecraft are her idols. While other girls dream of fancy gowns, coronets and titled husbands, Angelica dreams of writing spine chilling ghost stories. As her fellow debutantes take care to maintain irreproachable reputations, Angelica gleefully aspires to ruin hers.
I believe that she is a memorable character in that she is very naïve in the beginning and grows so much throughout the story. Also, she is just plain fun. Adventurous, inquisitive, and optimistic she embraces new challenges with fearless abandon.
Who is the Lord Vampire of London and what makes him a dashing vampire?
Ian Ashton, the Lord Vampire of London, bears his many responsibilities with noble dignity. Not only does he have to see to the obedience and well being of London’s vampires, he also has duties among the mortal world as the Duke of Burnrath.
When the publication of John Polidori’s The Vampyre spawns a vampire craze in Europe, Ian not only faces the challenge of protecting his secret, he also has to contend with an aspiring authoress bound to make mischief upon his life. I believe he handles these conflicts with impressive tact and boundless charm. Also, he is devastatingly handsome. :)
What makes Angelica the perfect woman to fall in love with a lordly vampire?
Angelica is perfect for Ian in that she makes him smile, laugh, and see the world with fresh eyes. He spent many of his mortal years fighting under King Henry VIII, and after he was Changed into a vampire, he spent many centuries with far too much seriousness and not enough joy. Also, since she adores vampires and “things that go bump in the night,” she embraces his preternatural characteristics and does not see him as a monster.
Ian is perfect for Angelica because he is strong, patient, and kind. He is wise and powerful enough to keep her out of danger when she seeks adventure, but has the understanding and confidence to accept her quirks and never restrain her spirit. His extensive knowledge and experience gives him the ability to stimulate her intellect and best of all, he supports her feminist principles.
England's "vampire craze" causes much vexation for the Lord Vampire of London, Ian Ashton. To save his reputation, Ian enlists aspiring authoress Angelica Winthrop without realizing she has hidden plans of her own.
Angelica Winthrop's life goal is to ruin her reputation, avoid marriage, and become a gothic authoress like her idol, Mary Shelley. To find inspiration for her new story, she breaks into the home of Ian Ashton, Duke of Burnrath, not knowing she will be coming up against the Lord Vampire of London. Romance sparks and reputations are at stake. But who knows the real difference between fact and fiction?
A lover of witty Regencies and dark paranormal romance, Brooklyn Ann combines the two in her new vampire series. The former mechanic turned author lives with her family in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho. She can be found online at http://brooklynann.blogspot.com as well as on facebook and twitter.
