#LettersFromtheAuthors - Watch Out for NashvilleKitty by Nicole Kelly, M.D.
Have you ever wondered why some women will violate the sisterhood code by stealing men and destroying families without a trace of guilt or remorse? What is going on in their heads to make them act that way? Why would a woman take what is not hers, and then casually discard her conquest after the destruction is done? She may be a sociopathic sex addict—a Sexopath. It is estimated as many as 1 in 25 people fall on the sociopathic spectrum complete with a lack of empathy and a desire to manipulate the rest of us. Unfortunately, Sexopaths are very difficult to detect because they look like everyone else and lying comes as easily as breathing to them. They deceive others for entertainment. The only way to protect ourselves, our relationships, and our families is to recognize these people for who they are. We need to get inside the mind of a Sexopath.
As an established physician in Nashville, Tennessee, I have spent my career helping my patients and their families during some of the most difficult times of their lives. If you had told me three years ago that I would write a novel about a married sociopathic sex addict anti-hero on a cheaters’ website complete with murder and suspense, I would have thought you were delusional. The subject is absolutely outlandish, yet it was inspired by true events. Truth is stranger than fiction yet again.
Writing a book has always been a goal of mine, and over the last two decades I started—but never finished—several non-fiction medical projects. Everyday life kept getting in the way of book completion. It took the betrayal of someone whom I considered a trusted friend—along with the theft of hundreds of thousands of dollars—to kick start my writing process. A Sexopath conned me using lies and manipulation, and I never saw it coming. If it could happen to me, it could happen to anyone.
Originally, I wrote as a form of therapy to understand how I could have been so gullible as to allow this to happen. As I began to piece together all of her stories and lies, I suddenly realized my ex-friend is a sociopathic sex addict or Sexopath. I had studied Anti-Social Personality Disorder—more commonly called “sociopathy” or “psychopathy” —in medical school, but my understanding was only of the violent psychopath who murders, commits arson, hurts animals, and often ends up in jail. I was ignorant of the intelligent sociopath who wears a mask to deceive her lack of empathy. Most Sexopaths are not imprisoned but are among us—hiding in plain sight. Men are more likely to be Sexopaths (#MeToo), but female Sexopaths, like the anti-hero NashvilleKitty in 69 Shades of Nashville: Sociopathic Sex Southern Style, are a dangerous threat to our way of life.
What started as personal therapy turned into a mission to educate the public about a type of person who sees us as pawns to manipulate for personal gain. Sociopaths run our country, companies, and churches but most of us are completely unaware they exist. This must change. What better way to expose Sexopaths than through a first-person narrative of a sociopathic sex addict? If we can understand how they think, we can beat them at their own game. 69 Shades of Nashville: Sociopathic Sex Southern Style takes you inside the mind of a conniving Sexopath who steals men to throw them away without a shred of remorse. NashvilleKitty is the anti-hero you are going to love to hate. I know I do.
Although modified into a fictional format with all identifying information changed, the real NashvilleKitty supplied enough stories of her many sexual conquests to paint the picture of the sociopathic psyche in a very entertaining format. By channeling her voice, the reader is able to enter the mind of a Sexopath. This is truly how she thinks. Murder and suspense add to the inherent danger many Sexopaths crave and with over 300 humorous drawings (more R-rated than X), I reveal the hidden reality obscured by the first-person, sociopathic narrative. Through pictures, NashvilleKitty’s dog acts as a voice of empathetic reason and comic relief.
The most difficult part of writing this book was forcing myself to stay in the mind of a Sexopath for the two year creative process. Although NashvilleKitty can be quite entertaining and charming (superficial charm is a trademark Sexopathic trait), she is a manipulative anti-hero with no empathy whose real-life counterpart stole vast amounts of money from me, almost destroyed my business, and betrayed my trust. Although I am very happy with the completed novel, I suspect if I had known how grueling my therapy writing experiment would be, I may not have started. Still, I am glad I did it. What began as a nightmare resulted in a creative work of which I am extremely proud. Writing in her voice made me value my conscience and empathy even more.
Although some encouraged me to change the location of the novel for increased anonymity, I felt strongly the story must take place in Nashville. It is a great city and acts as an underlying character to the plot. Nashville is booming while many American cities struggle to survive. Also, I sought the contrast of using the conservative, religious South as the backdrop to this story of manipulation and sin. NashvilleKitty considers herself a god as she controls all those around her with no respect for The Golden Rule as she is unable to empathize with another person. She is a devil in an attractive exterior, tempting men through manipulation and sexual promises. In the spirit of a romantic happy ending—the ending is happy for all the people scorned by her exploits. Happy endings are in the eye of the beholder, after all.
My goal is to educate the public about the sociopathic sex addict in an entertaining format. I captured the Sexopath’s voice in order to expose her to the world. We must recognize this different breed of human in order to protect ourselves. Many women are victims to sociopathic sex addicts on a daily basis, and Sexopath detection is the first step to protection. My main objective was to teach without the reader feeling taught. 69 Shades of Nashville: Sociopathic Sex Southern Style is a fun read with humorous drawings and a surprise ending. I wanted to create something completely outside-the-box that defies genre and has never been done before and ended up with a romantic suspenseful dark erotic comedy in a fictional memoir format complete with over 300 drawings. Not to sound like a narcissistic sociopath, but I think it turned out great! As my main objective is to warn as many people as possible about these sexual predators, you can read the entire 69 Shades of Nashville: Sociopathic Sex Southern Style for free on my website www.69ShadesOfNashville.com for a limited time. Please tell everyone you think could benefit from this insightful book as knowledge is power—and it is time we take the power back!
Currently, I am working on a non-fiction work Sexopathy: The Sociopathic Sex Addict coming out later this year in order to continue my mission to educate the public about this danger to our society. Detection is the first step to protect ourselves and those we love. Forewarned is forearmed. Please, check out my novel for free and always—Watch Out for NashvilleKitty!

Nicole Kelly, M.D. is the nom de plume of an established Nashville physician who had first hand experience dealing with the manipulations of a sociopath who stole a vast sum of money from her medical practice. NashvilleKitty, the anti-hero narrator of 69 Shades of Nashville: Sociopathic Sex Southern Style was inspired by a true sociopathic sex addict who knows no bounds in causing havoc in neurotypicals' lives. The names, details, locations, and all identifying information have been changed resulting in a fictional work--but this fiction was inspired by reality. Nicole Kelly, M.D. began this writing adventure as a form of therapy when legal proceedings costs exceeded expected returns as the real NashvilleKitty had already spent the hundreds of thousands of dollars she stole. Therapy turned into a mission to educate the public about the sociopath--but to do so in an entertaining format so people can learn and enjoy themselves at the same time. Cartoons were added to appeal to the large portion of the population who are more visual and to give the neurotypical insight of sociopathy that the unreliable narrator, NashvilleKitty, is unable to give. This novel is like no other out there: well-written, suspenseful erotic with humorous cartoons (more R-rated than X-rated) with a surprise ending. It is entertaining, exciting--in more ways than one--while educating the world about a type of person unlike the rest of us. The reader goes inside the mind of a sociopath. This is truly how she thinks. People like this are running our country, companies, and churches. In order to protect ourselves, first we must learn to recognize them. Delve deeper into the nature of the sociopathic mind next door in Nicole Kelly, M.D.'s non-fiction work on this fascinating subject coming Spring 2018: Sexopathy: The Sociopathic Sex Addict.
