Kutie was named after an angel but she'd be the first to admit her life is anything but angelic. She's prey to wild dreams of mineral treasure, prone to treacherous missions in unlikely places. By the time Kutie figures out where her subconscious has led her, it's frequently too late to stop.
Lately she's begun to realize there is more to these efforts than her subconscious going astray. She's spotted a "watcher" in her visions-a presence who doesn't belong. Are her talents being directed for someone else's benefit? The thought is terrifying. No one has the right to control her life. Unless he's Simon Porter, that is.
Except Simon doesn't want to control her-only to keep her alive. Kutie quickly realizes he could be the man of her dreams if her visions weren't so warped. But Simon has psychic problems of his own, and most of them revolve around Kutie. He perceives a future with her but only if they can wrest it from the crystalline, flaming, drenching near-disasters of their present.
