I've always enjoyed writing and even wanted to become writer as a young child. But I didn't reconsider the dream until I had a baby and toddler, and wasn't working. Craving mental stimulation, I took a writing course for children's fiction. After four children's books, I decided to try writing an adult novel. It turned out to be an inspirational romance. Thus began my love affair with writing romance, and I haven't looked back since. I took another huge leap and self-published my first novel with a vanity publisher. A lesson I would like to teach any new writer - not a good idea. But it felt wonderful to have my words in my hand. In hindsight, I would have learned the craft more and only pursued the traditional publishing route. That has been my aim the last five years. After many rejection letters, I signed my first contract on the 13th of June 2012 with a wonderful publisher - Astraea Press. Besides working towards traditional publishing, I have also dabbled in self-publishing on e-book sites like Amazon, Smashwords and Lulu. My first-ever book, Buggy's Adventures in Motoland, and a free short story called Mary's Christmas Story Part 1, are available on Smashwords. Two of my inspirational romance novels are also available on Amazon.
Over the last few years, I have been honing my craft by learning from other talented South African writers in the Romance Writers of South Africa Group (ROSA), following writing blogs, studying grammar, and writing, writing, writing. At the moment, I enjoy writing sweet contemporary romance novellas and inspirational romances.
