My daughter heads off to college at the end of August, so we’re trying to fit as much family fun time into this summer before she leaves. We just returned from a trip to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. I’ve lived in Michigan my entire life but never made it to the UP, took my daughter attending Northern Michigan University to get me up there. Our trip did double duty as a family vacation and visit to her campus for orientation. I took my Kindle and a couple paperbacks to unwind with at night- and for the long drive back and forth (six hours).
What are you reading this summer?
Will you be adding any of this month’s new releases to your Kindle or bookshelf?
Top of my must have list this month is Grave Ransom by Kalayna Price. The 5th Book in the Alex Craft series is finally here. I love this series so much.
Next up on my must have list is the Kindle edition of The Sweetest Burn (A Broken Destiny Novel) by Jeaniene Frost which releases July 1.
Other hot new releases this month include:
Reckoning by Shana Figueroa
The Stone Warriors: Kato by D.B. Reynolds
A Kiss Before Doomsday by Laurence MacNaughton
Reach for You (Dark Hearts Book 3) by Pat Esden
Wildfire: A Hidden Legacy Novel by Ilona Andrews
Wicked Kiss by Rebecca Zanetti
Dark Rites: A Paranormal Romance Novel (Krewe of Hunters) by Heather Graham
Plus, don't miss out on Donna Grant’s Reapers Box Set -Tall, Dark, Deadly Alpha: (Dark Alpha's Claim; Dark Alpha's Embrace; Dark Alpha's Demand) releases July 11.
RR: Let’s start this month’s Super Quick Author Interviews with Columbkill Noonan. What is the name of your newest release and genre/category it falls into?
CN: “Barnabas Tew and the Case of the Missing Scarab”. It’s an historical/cozy mystery, with a dash of humor and a liberal helping of fantasy.
RR: Can you describe your main character in 3 words?
CN: Earnest, excitable, lovable
RR: Can you describe your hero in one sentence?
CN: He’s a little awkward, a little nervous, and tends to get terribly over-excited, but he also has a strong sense of duty and a need to maintain the social niceties; Barnabas would far rather be eaten by a snake-god than be seen to be behaving improperly!
RR: What kind of paranormals or paranormal elements are in your book?
CN: There are the mythological Egyptian gods (being as we are in the Egyptian Land of the Dead, there absolutely must be gods!). Each of these gods has some sort of power, whether it be rolling the sun across the sky every day, making the Nile flood, or turning people into various types of rodents. And, of course, you know, mummies.
RR: Without giving away details, Can you describe one interesting scene in your book in less than two sentences?
CN: I personally like the scene where the case is resolved. There is a little known goddess who is a real feminist, and, without saying too much, she gets to play quite a role in this scene. I loved writing about her!
RR: In two sentences or less can you tell readers something unique about your book?
CN: I think the entire premise is somewhat unique and unusual. Where else will you find a proper Victorian London detective solving cases in the afterlife?
RR: Can you list three adjectives that describe your book as a whole?
CN: Fun, unusual, and fast-paced (that counts as just three words, right?)
RR: What’s the heat level of your book?
CN: Arctic winter (with just the tiniest splash of unrequited love). Barnabas is a very prim and proper Victorian gentlemen, and doesn’t really go in for that sort of romantic tomfoolery.
RR: And last but not least, where can a reader purchase your book?
CN: Amazon
RR: Next up is Jenn Windrow. Jenn what is the name of your newest release and genre/category it falls into?
JW: Evil’s Unlikely Assassin – Urban Fantasy
RR: Can you describe your main character in 3 words?
JW: Kick-ass snark machine.
RR: What kind of paranormals or paranormal elements are in your book?
JW: Kick-butt Vampires, sexy werewolves, horny ghosts and attitude wielding angels.
RR: Without giving away details, Can you describe one interesting scene in your book in less than two sentences?
JW: In the second chapter, Alexis is required to make a hard choice, one that will scar her for the very rest of her life. She makes the choice that she can live with, but is surprised when that choice is taken away from her because there is someone that is way less selfish than she is. It’s my favorite scene of the book and not something that you would see coming.
RR: In two sentences or less can you tell readers something unique about your book?
JW: My vampire has signed a contract with an angel to kill one supernatural creature every night for 50 years. If she completes her task she becomes human again.
RR: Can you list three adjectives that describe your book as a whole?
JW: Action, attitude, and ass-kicking.
RR: What’s the heat level of your book?
JW:Hot and spicy, but only a couple of scenes.
RR: And last but not least, where can a reader purchase your book?
JW: Amazon. Barnes and Noble. Kobo. iBooks. Muse It Up Publishing.
