This book kept me spellbound as destiny took back what was her intent proving that the house doesn’t always win in this paranormal romance. Arcana Royale Casino is not a typical casino and it’s showgirls are just as unique. This uniqueness appeals to the reader and turns what could have been an okay romance into an exceptional one. Family loyalties, honor and a bit of deception all come into play as Malcolm Reynolds is enchanted by and is enchanting Jeannie Williams. Touches of humor and light heartedness are sprinkled throughout the story but so are drug addiction and a few other unsavory things. The ultimate ending is pretty much a given but there is enough uncertainness that you don’t dare put this story down!
Jeannie Williams left her small town on a bus in the 1950s to make it big in Hollywood. Along the way she lost her money and ended up as the headliner at the Arcana Royale Casino. Due to magic, unknown to Jeannie, she doesn’t age but she also still has 100 years left on her sentence. Malcolm Reynolds has come to the Arcana Royale to see about getting his younger cousin released from a 300 year sentence. While waiting to see the Overseers of the casino, he sees the show and knows he has to meet Jeannie. Jeannie instinctively asks Malcolm for help but can he help and should he? He’s here for his cousin, not a showgirl he’s never met!
This is the first book in a new series by Heather Long called Soulgirls. Based on this one, she’s going to have an awesome series that you’re not going to want to miss a single book.
Destiny doesn't like to be messed with. And the House doesn't always win.
Fifty years ago, Jeannie Williams made her way to Las Vegas seeking fame and fortune. Instead, she lost her soul and wound up performing nightly shows at the Arcana Royale. Every day, she straps on her feathers, her glitter, her stilettos, and she dances. Every day, it’s the same.
Until the day he walks in.
For six centuries, Malcolm Reynolds has been the go-to guy for anything his family needs: warrior, diplomat, wrangler, researcher, and now an attorney. He enters the Arcana Royale Casino, intent on negotiating the release of his cousin’s bad debt, but one look at the golden-skinned showgirl ignites a fire of need that he’s never experienced. When the fantasy come true sits at his table, words he never expected to hear come out of her lush mouth: “I need your help.”
Now he’s in for the toughest battle of his life, because the Overseers own both his cousin’s debt and her soul. And he’s not planning on leaving the Royale without either one.
This book has been previously published and has been revised and expanded from its original release.
Warning: Contains high-stakes games, sexy showgirls, and a powerful showdown between a vampire that can’t lose and the House that never does. Spells, slots, sirens and sex, oh my!
