A Whisper of Desire

The Disgraced Lords, #4

Bronwen Evans continues her delightful series with this latest Historical romance. Lady Marisa Hawkestone is a delightful leading lady. She has brains and beauty and has taken society by storm. She isn't perfect but her kind heart and vivaciousness make her a woman I'd love to be friends with. Maitland Spencer, the Duke of Lyttleton completely won my heart with his straightforwardness and his loyalty towards the other Libertine Scholars and their loved ones. The fact he struggles so much with his inner turmoil had me flipping the pages so that I could find out what the outcome would be. The frankness about certain topics was refreshing and still handled with a historical feel that was both entertaining and informative. I loved that I was able to catch up with characters I considered old friends and that another little piece of the puzzle occurred. I cannot wait to read the next in the series. I laughed out loud, I cried I wept and I couldn't keep the smile off my face. Having read a few of the previous stories about this fabulous group of friends I was excited to read this one. This one was by far my favourite story by this author, which is saying something. I couldn't read it fast enough and now, days later I still can't stop thinking about it. I highly recommend this story, it is a must-read.

Whoever is after the Libertine Scholars sets up Lady Marisa Hawkestone and Maitland Spencer, the Duke of Lyttleton by locking them both together in a bedchamber to be discovered and thoroughly trapped because they are both naked. Determined to protect his new wife who is equally determined to help, plans are set in motion and nothing that happens is what is expected. The Cold Duke cannot hide from the heat his new bride illicits in him but can he keep his heart whole while trying to ferret out an enemy?

Book Blurb for A Whisper of Desire

Sensual heat melts the ice in the new Disgraced Lords novel from USA Today bestselling author Bronwen Evans, as a marriage of convenience leads to delightful pleasure—and mortal danger.

Lady Marisa Hawkestone’s nightmare is just beginning when she wakes up naked, with no memory of the night before, lying next to Maitland Spencer, the Duke of Lyttleton—a man so aloof and rational he’s nicknamed “the Cold Duke.” A scandal ensues, in which Marisa’s beloved beau deserts her. As a compromised woman, Marisa agrees to marry Maitland. But on her wedding night, Marisa discovers the one place the duke shows emotion: in the bedroom, where the man positively scorches the sheets.

Taught from a young age to take duty seriously, Maitland cannot understand his new wife’s demands on his love and affection. Marisa’s hot-blooded spirit, however, does have its attractions—especially at night. In retrospect, it seems quite silly that he didn’t marry sooner. But being one of the Libertine Scholars requires constant vigilance, even more so when the enemy with a grudge against his closest friends targets Marisa. Now Maitland must save the woman who sets his heart aflame—or die trying.
