Stormy Wedding

“Stormy Weather” by Kelli Scott revolves around a wedding between our two protagonists, Rachel and Rory, who I might describe as a Virgo and a Capricorn, respectively (you’ll see what I mean). Rachel is holding onto hang-up about past relationships, and has a plethora of male relatives as cheater-role models. This, naturally, doesn’t lead her to trust her finer urges, prompting her to assume a vow of chastity ‘til the wedding night. And Rory has a past filled with a number of cheaters of the feminine variety, and has finally found a woman that can be both his trusted partner (see: wife) and vixen in the bedroom (see: mistress)… though he only fully realizes that second part during the story.

All in all, I thought this a rather entertaining novella, with lots of inventive locations for the love scenes. The wedding was described in such a way that you could almost be an observer there, kookiness, crazy weather, and all. The relatives were interesting if not very fleshed out (it is just over 80 pages, after all). And, most importantly, both Rory and Rachel are sympathetic characters. My only reservations stem from the fact that it was perhaps a bit short on resolution- did both really resolve their issues, or is it just off to the honeymoon?- and… the erotic scenes were frequent and hot, but I could have also used a little more character development in place of at least one scene. But that’s just me. I’d definitely recommend this book for a hot, steamy read, short but sweet. Perhaps just before your own wedding, ladies? You’ll get some great ideas your man will thank you for later. Just beware of security cameras….

Book Blurb for Stormy Wedding

Rachel McAllister tried to dissuade Rory Callahan’s interest, she’d been hurt by love too many times before, but Rory had been as relentless as a dog after a bone. She gave in, but made one thing perfectly clear from the start—no sex until she said, “I do.” If Rachel knew one thing about men, it was that you gave them what they wanted—sex—and they’d be out the door before the sun came up. Rory has passed all her tests and jumped through her hoops to prove his love. They’re ready to say, “I do”, and Rachel’s ready to erase any of Rory’s lingering regrets about waiting to have sex.

Rory fell head over heels for Rachel at first sight. Getting her to date him was another matter altogether. He’d followed all her rules and has barely complained about her strict moral code. Now he’s going to marry her for better or worse. He’s about to find out his goody-two-shoes bride-to-be is a fiery vixen who’s too hot to handle.
