Lost In You

The Monroes, #3

“Lost in You” by Jules Bennett is a sweet romance that follows the friends-to-lovers progression of Macy and Liam, who each have plenty of issues. This is the final book in the series, so there are several cameos by the other Monroe brothers and their respective mates. Despite never having read the other stories, I had no problems reading this as a stand-alone tale, although I am definitely intrigued by the hints dropped about previous events.

I like the heat that flares between the main characters and that each has a viable career but I was frustrated by the constant ups and downs of their relationship. The tiptoeing around the secrets and simmering conflicts made the story more angsty than it needed to be as far as I was concerned, and the highs seemed so brief in comparison to the lows. I was disappointed by the setbacks that Macy has and I felt that it was past time for each of these main characters to talk to a counselor about past trauma, although I gather that it took Liam a while to reconcile with his brothers and this was probably addressed in past stories. I enjoyed the high note that the series ends on and I was glad to get a chance to meet these folks, and I am inclined to look up the previous books because I really liked the secondary female characters in this story.

This contemporary romance is part of the ‘Monroes’ series that features a trio of sexy brothers. This particular book centers on Liam Monroe, who has reluctantly returned to Haven to assist his brothers in bringing their late sister’s dream to life. Unfortunately, Liam, a very skilled chef, has dreams that have nothing to do with the town he grew up in…now if only he can convince his wayward heart that his dream of owning his own high-end restaurant is all he needs in his life, not the tenacious Macy Hayward who has grown up from the young girl he once knew.

Book Blurb for Lost In You

The only thing that could bring Liam Monroe back to Haven, Georgia, is his loyalty to his late sister--so he’s agreed to serve as a chef at the resort his brothers have built in her honor. But he’s not staying. At least that’s the plan. . .

Macy Hayward always admired the Monroes. Adopting four kids—including the brooding, mysterious Liam—they were an example of the loving family she wanted for herself someday. Now, ironically, Macy’s got an unexpected new tenant in the apartment above her hardware store: none other than Liam.

Most of Liam’s furniture consists of weightlifting equipment, since he has no intention of settling in. He can’t wait to run away again, from his brothers and his bitter memories—and from Macy, with her relentlessly seductive curves. Still, while he’s around, he should do the poor woman a favor and teach her to cook, before she poisons someone. . .

Soon, their sessions in the kitchen are getting spicy. But Macy has roots in Haven, and she wants to plant more, including taking in a little girl who needs a home. Meanwhile, Liam has an opportunity for his own restaurant in Atlanta. Will choosing love mean giving up their separate dreams? Or will the heart find a way?. . .
