Rush is a fantastic start to Maya's new Breathless Trilogy! She starts the series off with a thrilling tale of forbidden love.
Gabe Hamilton is obsessed with his friend and business partners little sister. Jace would have a cow if he even suspected Gabe had his eye on his sweet baby girl. But Gabe is done waiting for Mia to spread her wings. When he sees his chance he takes it and offers Mia a proposition.
Mia has had a secret crush on Gabe for years, so she's over-the-moon when he makes his interest known. And she is overjoyed when he stakes his claim on her. It's her dream come true until he shoves a contract under her nose that says she belongs to him.
Gabe made a point of treating his personal relationships like business deals- complete with contracts. Mia would be no different than his many other conquests. He'd quench his fire for her and when the affair was over they would remain friends. And his friend and Mia's brother, Jace, would be none the wiser. Their passionate affair on the sly works for a while. Until they both start getting emotionally involved and Gabe starts running scared and makes some bad mistakes.
The leads in this story were very compelling. I really loved both Gabe and Mia. Gabe didn't really intend to be mean spirited...dense but not mean. And in his defense, he was carrying some heavy baggage. He'd been burned before and wasn't comfortable risking his heart again for love. Mia had a joyful spirit and a giving heart. She wanted to be with Gabe and was willing to forgive him almost anything. But she had the strength to walk away and know that she'd be alright, even if it broke her heart. The chemistry between them was great and the love scenes were hot enough to set the pages on fire. This is a Maya Banks book...so you kind of expect that. The story was all about the H/h, with some intriguing peripheral characters, notably Jace and Ash, who will feature in the other two books. As if Gabe's story wasn't steamy enough, the sneak peek of Fever at the end, gave me jitters that won't be going away until I get my hands all over Jace...er...his story.
Maya Banks owns the top spot on my must read list. I'm always eager and excited to see what she has coming out next. I haunt her website for the latest news. Yes, folks, I am an official Maya stalker all because her books never disappoint.
This book was a sexy, erotic and a thrilling start to her newest trilogy. It's going to be a hard act to follow. I'd recommend it as a great read to all romance junkies.
