This was a good book. One that I liked, despite feeling some guilt for how much I enjoyed it. You see, the author kept the story very true to the MC life of the setting. There was never a dull moment with lots of things happening. Plenty of nasty things going on to keep the reader on edge. Lots and lots of steamy sex. Best of all were the characters and the feelings that they invoked for this reader. This book hooked me emotionally and baby it held on right up until the end.
The story gets off to a rough start for Megan. I was completely aghast at the opening scene. She was in a bad situation that the author laid out there. I think maybe that was the hardest part of the story for me to read. Abuse is a horrible thing. The author didn't sugar coat it either. So Megan hits the road looking for her father. Things don't go so well with that either. It's a hard road for this clueless young girl. She finds her way to her old man's biker club.... only to realize things ain't going her way in that either. Poor girl. It seems there is a new boss in town, and he's a real jerk. A sexy alpha jerk. But there you have it.... Megan falls hard and fast for the man who killed her own father.
Rest assured fellow readers.... this book has loads of stuff going on. The author threw in plenty of violence, backstabbing, blood and raw sex. And a bottomless bucket of emotions. It has a romance of sorts. I had this love/hate relationship with the "hero". Outlaw was an arrogant jerk who did some unforgivable things to his woman. Of course, she inevitably excused and forgave everything he did to her. Wait a minute .... Okay that's pretty much what I look for in a romance novel. *Grin* Even still, some of it was way out there even for me. So good. I enjoyed the heck out of it. :) Yet in all fairness, it must be said that some of the scenes could hit a raw spot for some readers. In the end it all comes good for our love struck - or lust struck - couple. So it's all good for me, obviously as I devoured this book in one sitting.
I love romance books that are set in the MC world, especially ones where the author lets it all hang out there. Books like this one, where we are shown that life's not always pretty for everyone, but it's what you do with it that counts. Misled is a very gritty story, with raw emotions that make you love it or maybe hate it. Either way.... I think you'll enjoy it. It's not perfect, but it was a good read for me. I look forward to reading more books like this from Kathryn Kelly.
