While this book may be for kids, it turns out that it’s a book that can be read and enjoyed by the big kids, too. There’s awesome photography accompanying all “101 Stats Every Fan Needs to Know” (as it says on the cover) and there’s even “Did You Know…” sections in the book, too! Here is where you’ll find interesting info and little-known facts about the featured football player and/or his team!
I love football, but mostly I love watching a football game. So this book was an interesting read! It really helped me get to know a variety of football players a little better and I cheered when I read about my favorite pro football team, the San Francisco 49ers, or when a Niners player was featured! In the pages of this book, readers were asked a question and each answer was underneath the question. The book is divided into 5 chapters – Champions, Personalities, Record Breakers, Super Scorers and Yardage Kings – and the pictures were so amazing and lifelike that I could almost hear the fans cheering! I myself was on the edge of my seat cheering for some star players who are included in this book, such as Steve Young, Deion Sanders, Joe Montana, Terry Bradshaw, John Elway, Jerry Rice and Brett Favre. I enjoyed reading about the players who beat the odds because of their height or how certain players got their nicknames. You’ll get all that and more in this little book of abundant football info!
The Sports Illustrated Kids Big Book of Who: Football was a fun book to read. I had a hard time putting it down! Reading this book wanted me to take my son outside to toss the football around and even encourage him in his quest to play football someday. This is definitely a book any kid could be inspired by, especially a young reader who dreams of someday scoring that winning touchdown!
