Valentine Shepherd, #3

"Reckoning", the third and final book in the Valentine Shepherd series, lived up to itself title name. It hit me like a rocket and left me in straight awe, and that’s the reason why I don’t want to disclose any blurb about this book. I want readers to go into this with that exciting, unknown feeling because it’ll make the reading experience just that much better. I will say that it was an epic finale, and all the unknown questions from the first two books will be answered.

The journey that Max and Valentine had to go through during this series was amazing. They had to fight for their lives and their love for each other and their love for their children, and still they couldn’t catch a break sometimes. And, I enjoyed their individual character growth, along with their growth as a couple.

One of my favorite things and one of the strongest element about this series was the characters. Each one left their own mark. All of them were well-developed and interesting, and they all stood on their own as people. They all had their own desires, emotions, aspirations, pasts, and futures. They all felt realistic and raw.

Overall, if you loved the first two books in this series, then the third will leave you with a very satisfied and bittersweet feeling. I loved all these characters, and I’m so sad that their journey is over, but I’m so happy at the same time. I feel like this series brought something new to the paranormal genre, and I hope that more readers find out about this series because it’s hugely underrated. This series literally had everything I could want in an awesome series: flawed and relatable main characters, well-developed and interesting secondary characters, simple, emotional yet beautiful prose, diversity, fast pacing, action-packed scenes and unpredictable twists.

To all paranormal and fantasy fans, pick this up. You won’t regret it.
