Current Release: Few Are Chosen
Describe your current release in two sentences?
Sparks fly between virgin teenage demon hunters when the Chosen One turns out to be… the Chosen Two?
What are you working on?
A male/male historical romance with steampunk and paranormal elements set in 1910 Toronto, Canada, that chronicles the blossoming love between young inventors trying to construct the world's first copying machine. Tagline: "The road to love is paved with good inventions"
Getting a book to market often takes a village. Who has helped you on the way?
I got my start in the 90s writing fanfiction, so there's the entire fan community who set me on the right road. There's the first rejection I had from Lamda award winning author Greg Herren that was so positive I wrote an entire book for him. (He gave me a cover quote!) Then the whole GBLT romance writing community who were encouraging and helpful. Publishers have been awesome and editors gentle. The reviewers have been kind (mostly), and the readers enthused. Yes, it takes a village, a big, kind, virtual village.
Do you have a favorite or interesting reader meet moment?
At the 2013 Authors After Dark conference, FEW ARE CHOSEN won the award for Best Short YA of the year. It was an amazing moment because a) it takes a minimum number of nominations to even be a finalist, and b) it wasn't a GBLT-specific category. It's a tremendous move forward when a gay-themed book can win in a general category! All weekend people kept telling me how much they'd enjoyed the story of Blake St. Blake and Shadow.
What is your favorite way to procrastinate?
Do I have to pick just one? Solitaire. Just because I look busy...
I also write as Gina X. Grant. The Reluctant Reaper trilogy debuted summer 2013 from Simon & Schuster.
As Storm Grant, I'm about to put my backlist online and also publish a couple of new books, the historical, RE-INVENTING LOVE mentioned above, and Book #2 in the Borderless Observers Org (BOO!) series which began with SHIFT HAPPENS.
