Interview

Hi Robb, Thanks for joining us and sharing your latest book with us. What is "Dangerous Women: Stories of Crime, Mystery, and Mayhem" about?

My collection features women as criminals, not victims. From Regina "Baby" Frontanetta, boxer and fledgling private eye, to Sandy Biggers, drug addict and hustler, the women in my stories are tough, intelligent, unscrupulous, and willing to take chances to get what they want from life. Luckily for them, there are also plenty of gullible or dishonest men abetting them along the way, and unfortunately for some of these guys--they'll discover too late what it means to encounter a really dangerous woman.

What should readers expect from you titles?

Suspenseful plots, intriguing characters, both female and male, and a narrative style that should keep a reader reading.

If you could have dinner with an author, who would it be?

Martin Cruz Smith

Getting a book to market often takes a village. Who has helped you on the way?

Several outstanding editors, three in particular: Ryan Thomas of Grand Mal Press, Rob Jackson and Dave Megenhardt of Red Giant Press.

What's next for you as an author?

While I'm thinking about a subject for a longer work, I'll work on ideas for short stories.

What books have you analyzed to help grow yourself as an author?

I avoid reading other crime/mystery authors (except those I've mentioned for sheer pleasure) mostly for reasons of limited time and because I don't believe there's anything valuable to learn from them that you can use stylistically in your own writing. Recognizing flaws in plot or characterization, for example, doesn't lend itself to improving one's own writing or skills.

Which authors do you follow religiously?

Martin Cruz Smith, David L. Lindsey, and Thomas Harris.

What should readers expect from you titles?

Suspenseful plots, intriguing characters, both female and male, and a narrative style that should keep a reader reading.

Thanks for stopping over.

I'm always grateful for the time readers and editors invest in my writing.
